McD needs to do a lot more to dethrone those guys, like not just individual accomplishments but also bring Hockey and NHL as a sports to another level like how MJ did with basketball.
I believe that part of MJ being the GOAT is not only what he had done on the court but also how he brought Basketball into a World Wide Sports that can challenge and might even overtake Football.

Greatest player is an individual discussion though.
All the greats had great teammates, McDavid has nothing.

Its all opinion of course. Only Orr played at the speed McDavid does.

Basketball will never take over football and hockey will never challenge either of them.

McD got Drai and Hyman.
Mario had nobody till Kevin Stevens, Jagr and Francis.

When LeBron James can't even remember the name of NHL team that shares his building (LA Kings) goes to show how much work the NHL has to become relevant in the US market. LeBron doesnt even know who McDavis and probably could care less. This has a lot to do with NHL marketing but hockey players having dead rock personalities has a lot to do with it.

I've mentioned it before, that while Campbell is one of the nicest guys you'll find, he's probably the most mentally fragile player. He continues to spiral, and even that stretch from a couple weeks ago wasn't enough to get him back on track to even an average goalie. I'd be beyond frustrated as an Oilers fan.

The guy could have demanded a trade 2-3 years ago and nobody would've blamed him. He seriously needs to ask for one this off-season. That organization doesn't deserve McDavid and clearly will never figure it out. What a waste.

Hard to know how Richard and Beliveau would have done in an expanded league.
