Nothing about the League’s All-Star selection makes sense. Barkov replaces Matthews despite not being a Leaf, but Buffalo gets to replace their guy with another Sabre? Ok you don’t want Buffalo to be without a player at the game but then why do you replace the injured Seattle player with a Vegas player and leave the Kraken without a representative?

Has the NHL ever made any sense ??

I wonder if replacement players are allowed to decline the invite and we don’t hear about it?
They’d go down a list until some accepts.

Just watched all of mcdavids goals. Man he just feasts on the awful western conference and especially his division. Obviously a fantastic player but that division is so bad. Even the entire conference is awful. No wonder him and draisaitl and hyman and RNH have so many points.

It would be so funny if Vegas misses the playoffs, and Buffalo got in.

Jack Eichel would be in shambles.
I like Vegas and think they’re great for the league, but I hate the moves they’ve made. They’re not even remotely like the team that went to the finals.

Vegas and Seattle had massively better start up deals than previous expansion teams, obviously geared to make them competitive (and Bettman look good) right away, but continued success may not be as easy.

Vegas has been competitive almost every year, but with the lack of draft success and trading all their top prospects, it may get ugly really quickly for them. 28 picks from the 2017-2019 drafts and only one decent NHLer on their team (Hague). The rest have been either traded or have barely played at best.

I think Seattle is in a better position and I'm sure Francis won't make rash deals in the summer if they have some success in the playoffs.

Good point. Maybe they asked McMann or a few other Kraken and they declined.

They need to forfeit a game or two after AS game. If enough players pretend to be injured (because thats the only way you can "decline") eventually your team has no players to ice after AS game :D

Hilarious that Bettman’s point system designed to keep playoff races artificially close is actually worse at doing that than the more sensible 3-2-1-0 points system.

I did the same thing (and also with every game worth 2 points) for 3 or 4 seasons, and the changes were all minimal: a couple of teams moving up or down a spot or two, but I don't think there was ever more than one team per season change in who made the playoffs.

The extra point after 60 minutes might erase Montreal's points record, but other than that, all it has done is confuse things and make the NHL look silly.

The issue probably has more to do with players who have already made plans.

I don't see Tavares or Nylander giving up their plans to go to to All star weekend. One because of family, the other because he doesn't give a shit about going to Florida and doing some dumb shit and being asked dumb questions.

The real issue is that the All star weekend is extemely localized for sponsors and local fans and offers no prestige to the players, nor do they give non-regional fans a reason to tune in.

The only non-leafs sweater that never annoys me in Toronto is a Crosby one.
