Around the League - 2022-23 Season Edition

I tried watching a bit of it last night, and it was just an uncoordinated mess.
Like if the whole thing is marketing, you'd think they'd put some planning and production behind this stuff, but it kind of just feels like an intermission sideshow.

Players would rather get the time off than participate in the all star games. This issue has just been getting worse every year. But tbh I don't blame the players. Who wouldnt prefer a break instead of doin all the media circus that comes with the all star game.

Haven't paid attention to it in 5+ years now, wonder if one day we will see it completely gone.

The game used to be competitive West vs East meant something, now the one willing scores the most.

And don't even get me started on every team getting a participation trophy player in..


Also if you get to SC finals you can do the media circus prior to it...

No one cares about the all star game anyway. its clown show. Same as in NBA and the pro-bowl in the NFL.

What it should be marketed as is All Star event. I think the NBA does a great job showcasing the players before the actual game.

In the NBA everyone is so close to the action on the floor. Even the broadcasters are stationed on the floor itself.

Yesterday was a gong show. Beach, Golf and ice rink. All over the place. So bland and so boring.

It also doesn't help that hockey players are generally conservative and reserved. Any player who even shows some personality (i.e Matthews) is immediately scorned especially here in HFBoards.

NHL has to come to terms with that we live in the TikTok age. Attention spans are short lived. Cant have these slow three on ones where players are skating on molasses against a goalie who just stands there.

Where was the hollywood star power yesterday? Some dude from White Lotus? Give me a break.

Corporate event that allows the league to get the sponsors together for a weekend, get them drunk and laid to show their appreciation.

They should hold it after the season in Hawaii. Players get a bonus for making the game and they and their family get an all expense paid trip to paradise before they start their offseason.

This way there is no disruption to the season so we could be watching hockey this weekend.

I tried to watch the 'skills in 30' today, but it was too painful. Glad I taped it so I could fast forward through it all.

Watching a bit of the first game. Awful as the 'hockey' is, those uniforms are worse.

Does either Western team have a defenceman playing?

I always find the Pro Bowl the best in terms of being an All Star Game.
