I know that Islanders is a pretty big mess and some here just dislike Lou bc others use Lou to compare Dubas.....
As Leafs fans, won't you want the Islanders to load up and somehow make the playoffs like Blue Jackets did a few years back and sweep the President Trophy winner.
If Islanders load up again, which they will. They will add more scoring and with Sorokin and their team defense whose plays a physical game. I would bet on them getting past Bruins than Sabre or even Sid and his boys.

Bc if he signs an extension now or admits there has been talks, it pretty much say Islanders got permission before the trade, lol.

As long as they win the Cup, I could careless who they take out.

Ideally, I want the Leafs to beat TB, then Bruins and then Caps(due to 6 yrs ago) and finish Avs to win the Cup.
But I would also think it will be fun for the Leafs to beat the Islanders due to the abuse JT got and for all those Dubas Vs Lou debate to end once and for all b/c I still don't see why some fans just keep doing that.

I doubt they are worried about that. Lots of time to sign him and if it doesn’t work out they can flip him for likely a better return than they paid.
I know the DDL likes to make fun of Lou but he’s seen it all and will react accordingly

Horvat gets to make the decision though, not Lamoriello.

It isn't like Horvat will take a haircut because he won't sign with the Islanders.

Hyman has a different role in Edmonton. Here he went into the corners and dug the puck out for Matthews.

In Edmonton, McDavid has the puck all the time. All the attention is on McDavid. Hyman is usually the recipient of a open net pass from MvDavid for tap ins.

Fun fact, the pick used to trade for Horvat originated from New Jersey. Lou traded it for Cory Schneider back in 2013. Horvat and Schneider are now both in the Islander organization.

Sort of a pointless trade for both teams. Vancouver gets Beauvillier who is only 2 years younger than Horvat and one year left on his deal. Underwhelming return. Isles don't really need to be selling futures where they're sitting.

Reasonable. I think Kerfoot might be better value that Beauvillier.

Wonder if we were even in on that? Horvat would have been some kind of add, but no way we would have been able to keep him.

The problem is not Hyman, it’s that Matthews, Marner, Nylander and the signing of Johnny Marleau took too much of the cap space. They lost continuity and are still paying for it. Hyman would be perfect for the Leafs.

He did nothing to address the lack of talent up front in the summer and now he is desperate to save his job. If they miss the playoffs and Horvat walks, he is as good as gone. Even with Horvat, I still like Buffalo and Florida more to make a push for wild card spots.

Also, wondering if the Canucks will flip Beauvilier before the deadline.
