I think last season, and this proved whatever playoff success the Islanders had in 2020 and 2021 was due a few months off before the bubble started in August 2020 and a 56 game schedule in 2021.

When the NHL went back to a full 82 game schedule for the 2021-22 season, the Islanders missed the playoffs and are on track to do that again this year.
Nah. With Komarov they made the playoffs three years in a row, and the conference final twice, even without JT.

As soon as Komarov left they went into the crapper.

No other possible explanation.

Vancouver had a bit of a surge for a few minutes after Seattle scored their 6th goal and the game was long over, but they had only generated 0.38 expected goals after 2 periods. That's crazy.

Feels like the players have just given up after how management handled everything.

The JFresh comments crack me up.

Had to sign him before he learned English. Otherwise he'd realize the shitshow and never sign.

:sarcasm:

It's a weird situation to me. They aren't going to be competitive during the time of the contract, and with this get closer to the cap max. It seems that they just don't want to admit they are rebuilding, or need to. They are probably better off selling him off, getting future assets, and building the right way, plus he actually makes them better right now... which isn't a good thing. Canucks can't even lose the right way.

It is hard to tank with young players already established themselves with Hughes and Petey. And deep down, JR probably think that if Demko is playing, it will mask a lot of their problems. Most importantly, they don't think they can out tank, Yotes, Hawks, BJs, Ducks and Sharks. Heck they might not even out tank the Habs, lol. Instead of looking up at the standings, they are looking down and realize they are 8-9pts behind, lol.

I get what you are saying, but for them to fix their problems... probably takes a few years, as well as new ownership in all reality. Until the ownership issue is fixed.... the rest will continue to be a mess.

No doubt about it. Even if Demko is playing, they are a playoff team at best and will rely on Demko to steal a series or two in the playoffs. But that’s also the illusion the ownerships and MGT are under.

Demko has been awful. I remember reading rumors somewhere that the Canucks could be worried that what is goin on with demko is what happened with schneider (injuries really hurting their play).
