I didn't realize the Bruins were dominating at a 140 pt pace of play

I was for buying this deadline to go deep.

But now the path looks almost bleek

I think I'd rather add a small move or two and then hope we can win when the odds are not in our favor vs the Bruins

Buying big and losing when that is pretty likely isn't the best idea

Not sure if it is true as it is from my Nucks friends.

During the press conf., Either Alvin or JR said they didnt plan to fire Bruce and just thought it was the right time. Somehow Tocchet was also visiting families in Vancouver.
Can they just come out and admit they could have handled it better and lets move on and focus on future.....

Also my Nucks friends are all saying, the press conf was about Miller and hinted he was misused by Bruce since he played Miller too much.

The classless treatment of Boudreau is somewhat surprising given that Rutherford strikes me as an old school guy who shouldn't be playing dumb games like this.

Regardless, not s good look for the Cannucks as an organization. At least they seem to actually take some media heat for this
Apparently, JR wanted to fire Bruce months ago but the owner didn’t want to be hook on paying a 3rd coach the salary and that’s why JR hung Bruce to dry in order to force the owners hand.
Even if that’s the case, JR still should not treat Bruce the way he did.

That is the most CGY FLMAES NAME YOU CAN THINK OF

Walker DOOO-ER?

lol

You can't get more hick than that

Guy sounds like he came out of Yellowstone

It's wild that the Capitals gave up on both Vanecek and Samsonov.

Somewhat. I can understand why they preferred to bring in Kuemper though, not to mention that either of Samsonov or Vanecek would have been too expensive to retain as a secondary option.

It never, ever is. The vast majority of deadline moves don’t pan out. Your strategy needs to be long term.

Yup. Time and time again you see the majority of teams actually hurt their themselves at the deadline rather than improve. Continuing to throw away future assets for a short period of time can completely destroy your team in the near future.

Just look at what Florida did last year... :help:

Colorado spent a lot of future assets to get Kuemper, Lekhonen and Manson. Kuemper was the full year, but it was short-term. They only picked two times this past draft --- once in the 6th round and once in the 7th round. They traded a lot of pretty good prospects as well.

Isles last 10 games:

1-6-3
17 goals scored
Only once did they score more than 2 goals
Zero third period goals (!)

They're wasting Sorokin's prime.
I think last season, and this proved whatever playoff success the Islanders had in 2020 and 2021 was due a few months off before the bubble started in August 2020 and a 56 game schedule in 2021.

When the NHL went back to a full 82 game schedule for the 2021-22 season, the Islanders missed the playoffs and are on track to do that again this year.

I think it shows that when and if your team shows that they can do it, GM must go for it or else those true contending years will be gone before you know it
