Around the League - 2022-23 Season Edition

At least free coffee for a week. Only the second time for me since Timmie's brought out this NHL goal game.

Pageau for 5 mill is nowhere near as bad as Palmieri or Bailey for 5 mill though. Pageau's contract is actually pretty good for what he brings. Top notch PKer, excellent in the dot, makes his linemates better, and can put up 45-50 points in a shutdown 3C role. He does get PP time too but he is not much of a factor there. He is effectively Kerfoot if Kerfoot was good enough at FO's to play center full time, and people will be surprised to see what Kerfoot gets in UFA...

Oh yeah forgot about the Bailey deal. Signed during his career season and hasn't been that good since. Palmieri was after the Toews trade but yeah, another bad contract.
 
I watched with sadness the way in which Vancouver treated Bruce Boudreau. I don't understand how a professional organization can operate that way, mind-boggling. I grew up with the Marlies and Bruce was a big part of the team that I'd go watch on Sunday afternoons. I was working and playing night games with the pros at Orr-Walton in Orilla and Bouds was there, and along with Palmateer was one of the funniest guys I ever hung out with. He was a riot, and a magician with the puck. A players' coach, witness some comments this week that supported him as a person, and you are left scratching your head, wondering how this could unfold the way it did.

In some ways it reminds me of the Ballard years, though I think Harold was worse. The rot starts at the top.

Their stars didn't have to work too hard against the Sharks last night, especially with Karlsson and Meier on the ice.

People are shitty on Huberdeau a lot but Lucic has been his other winger for a good chunk of the season.

That’s a good point. I guess they can be really well rested? Regardless they are rolling. Hopefully they peak to early.

Completely agree. Karlsson is not a Dman. He might plays that position but he aint one.
