Another casualty of the Tavares debacle.
I blame Hyman for pricing himself off the team.

Nobody spends 100% of their time in one situation, but he spends most of his time with McDavid/Draisaitl, and most of the remaining time with another player that's outproducing him.So he doesn't play with anyone else?
Used to watch him in St Catharines. He was an amazing AHL player, too good for that league.Maybe Bruce is pulling the plug?
I'd have a plane waiting for him, not to take over the coaching but to hire him in some capacity as a Leafs alumni.
He really was mostly a minor leaguer, just didn't have the wheels.
Without knowing his relationship with management there, it is difficult to know how he'd feel about being promoted to an executive position there.

He's also been one of the worst defensive players on the team.

Yeah I don't think the Leafs were too far off from Edmonton's offer .. Zach chased the money
Actually the opposite for me. I hope they flounder after the way Bruce was treated and hopefully they get rid of old man Rutherford. For the sake of that division I hope the new guys can turn this around. What a bunch of horrible teams in that pacific division.
Hyman not having as much of his production come from the PP (in relation to McDavid and Draisaitl) surely helps with that. Hyman averaging less ice time per game also likely helps defensively (which conversely might have a negative effect on his offence/production). That stated, it's undoubtedly no mistake that he's been a plus player in almost every season of his career thus far.I watch many Oilers games and Hyman seems to play in the top 6.
Be nice to know his percentage of time per line combination.
Somewhere he's getting pluses.
Pretty sure Friedman said the Leafs offered 8 years. Could be wrong, but I remember him reporting that on one of his 32 thoughts pod episodesLeafs could have offered an 8th year. IMO the discount the Leafs wanted was too much for Hyman to pass up the Oilers offer. In the end, it sure looks like he made the right choice. If McDavid wills it, Hyman might end up with a SC ring.

Probably. Doubt Hyman was interested in taking a discount because some of the bigger guys didnt.Agree that is where they could have made up some of the money the Oilers offered and kept the AAV lower. Since it did not happen makes me think the Leafs offer was too low for Hyman to pass up the Oilers offer. It's usually about the money.
McD, Drai, and Nuge have 43, 35, and 29 PP points respectively.Hyman’s been the perfect compliment for McDavid and Draisaitl.. good for him.
I don’t know if he has that kind of success had he stayed with the Leafs personally.
For one, he has 12G and 18 PP points on Edmontons stacked unit. He doesn’t get that opportunity with the Leafs.
Think it was the term that was the issue.Yeah I don't think the Leafs were too far off from Edmonton's offer .. Zach chased the money
Dobber hockey frozen linemates, it tracks full lines by situation and statsI watch many Oilers games and Hyman seems to play in the top 6.

Zack Hyman (1g 3a last night) has as many points as Mitch Marner and goals as Matthews. The guy has turned into a bonafide top 6 forward. That contract may or may not age well but Oilers getting a bargain so far two years in.
We have seen Michael Bunting been doing those things, like standing up for teammates.and don't forget all the other things that hyman brings. hits, competitiveness, standing up for teammates, etc.
Think it was the term that was the issue.
