Zack Hyman (1g 3a last night) has as many points as Mitch Marner and goals as Matthews. The guy has turned into a bonafide top 6 forward. That contract may or may not age well but Oilers getting a bargain so far two years in.

GM of the Year is kind of silly because it's such a short sample size for a GM's body of work. They could benefit from a prospect they didn't draft coming up and being a big impact player. Or it's a splashy trade when the rest of the core was in place.

It doesn't consider drafting/developing, cap management, etc. All of these longer term things that really gauge a GM's quality.

People been saying the Islanders have been getting extremely lucky those 2 years that Lou won it but the media can't see that apparently. Everything screamed that they were overachieving so much. Hell, in 2020 they were on the verge of missing the playoffs but got saved by Covid and Lou still someone won that year cause they went to the conference finals.

Just last draft Lou traded away 13th and 98th overall for Romanov.

But Hyman has got better, maybe because he's healthier?

Hyman also no longer plays defense. He along with McDavid and Draisaitl give up the most scoring chances and shots against on the team.
