He was in literal therapy (and good for him) because he thought he was a bust. He took gauranteed money. He he guy clearly outperformed his contract.

Heck matthews has clearly out performed his contract. But neither were underpayments at the time.

The idea that he took less at the time is silly.

He took 8.6% of the cap. That would be like Kerfoot or miky signing for 7 mill this off season

Heck nylander had a better case and people roasted his contract.

What would be similar to other teams star players is if Colorado does win this year and much like Toews, Kane in Chicago, or Kopitar and Doughty in LA or Sid and Geno in Pittsburgh, who cashed in on their contracts AFTER hoisting a Cup and some even earning the Conn Smythe trophy.

The best window of opportunity to win the Cup is when your star players are on cap friendly deals and producing at high levels.
