Who are the three fools that had Josi 4th?Makar with a well earned Norris, he's unreal .. But what a big snub for Josi who put up 10 more points (96!) on a much worse team.
Imagine getting 96 points as a d-man and not winning the Norris.
Josi got robbed. Hockey writers are morons giving finalist votes to McAvoy
Three players on this list won cups during the final year of their ELC and before those contracts.Crosby had not won a cup when he signed his 17.30% x 5 year contract.
Malkin had not won a cup when he signed his 15.34% x 5 year contract.
Kopitar had not won a cup when he signed his 12.00% x 7 year contract.
Toews had not won a cup when he signed his 11.09% x 5 year contract.
Kane had not won a cup when he signed his 11.09% x 5 year contract.
Doughty had not won a cup when he signed his 10.89% x 8 year contract.
Those are big contracts. Some of them even bigger than Matthews/Marner.
All of the contracts were signed before any cups were won.Three players on this list won cups during the final year of their ELC and before those contracts.
How many have your golden boys have won since coming off ELC???????All of the contracts were signed before any cups were won.
Not sure who you think the "golden boys" are, but not really relevant to the discussion anyway. How many have your golden boys have won since coming off ELC???????
Marner, Nylander and Matthews are the Leafs golden boys. You were going on about contracts of all those other players. The difference is they did win a cup and got out of the first round. Not sure who you think the "golden boys" are, but not really relevant to the discussion anyway.
Matthews, Marner, and Nylander aren't "golden boys", but they are amazing hockey players well worth their contracts.Marner, Nylander and Matthews are the Leafs golden boys.
Actually, what happened is an individual in this thread made an incorrect statement about 6 specific players, claiming that they only got big contracts after winning the cup, so I corrected them and pointed out that all of them actually signed big contracts before winning any cups. You were going on about contracts of all those other players.
I just quickly poked around in Oilers Around the League thread. That is some funny shit there
I agreed they are amazing hockey players. I don't feel they will ever win anything with the way the roster is constructed. One of them has to go to get the 2 things this team needs. They need that number 1 defenseman and a major upgrade in goal. I'm sorry but Reilly isn't a number 1 defenseman.Matthews, Marner, and Nylander aren't "golden boys", but they are amazing hockey players well worth their contracts.

Also, it would be weird for a Leaf fan to refer to Matthews/Marner/Nylander as "your" and not "our" players.
Well, I'm glad we can both agree they are amazing hockey players. Rielly is indeed a #1 defenseman, this team is very good defensively overall, and there's no reason we can't win with the way the roster is constructed. Cups have been won with all sorts of different roster constructions. A solid goalie would definitely help.I agreed they are amazing hockey players. this seems pretty crazy to me. Florida was doing so well, why replace their coach with someone who consistently underperformed with the Jets?

They replaced him with Paul Maurice. Paul. Maurice. Yes. That Paul Maurice.Panthers go all in, win a round, coach is schooled in the playoffs and held accountable and replaced. Here they would have given him another 3 kicks at the can.
The Panthers are also being duly critiqued for letting go the interim coach who salvaged the season and brought the best out of a ragtag group to clinch the President's Trophy, and taking the Panthers out of the first round for the first time in 25 years, all without getting the chance to even choose his own staffPanthers go all in, win a round, coach is schooled in the playoffs and held accountable and replaced. it would be like getting a B on your math test and being so upset about not getting an A+ that you decide to get a lobotomy. Yes it's doing something, but is it really what we should be aiming for? They replaced him with Paul Maurice. Paul. Maurice. Yes. That Paul Maurice.
Thank god that our management is smarter than that.
Panthers did get pretty demolished by Tampa after going all-in though.

Wake me up when Keefe gets his 811th loss, to tell me more about how awesome Paul Maurice is.Wake me us when Keefe gets his 775th win.
Yes, the guy who, like multiple NHL GMs, offered a 1st for a Foligno that unfortunately ended up getting injured (a fraction of the "all-in" that Florida did) is smarter than to hire Paul Maurice.Yup the same guys who went all in by trading a 1st and 2 4ths for a broken down, Nick Foligo and then signed IFAs Ritchie and Mrazek is much smarter.
Except Florida got smacked around by the team that we outplayed.Panthers > Leafs in playoffs.
Paul Maurice is the Pete DeBoer of the East.
Always getting jobs and with no clue as to why,
Wake me up when Keefe gets his 811th loss, to tell me more about how awesome Paul Maurice is.
