Wow you now feel you have tp rip MacKinnon to defend our greedy players.
Our players aren't "greedy" for taking their worth like everybody else. And I'm not "ripping Mackinnon". Fact is he's never taken a discount on a contract ever. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's worth noting when he specifically says "again" in the quote. If anything, his contract when it was signed was quite generous based on his pre-signing period.

Let's see what he actually signs for before we start handing out praise for it.

So what awards do teams get for winning rounds but not winning a cup?

A failure to win is a failure to win.
what reward do you get for coming 31st or making the semi finals?

Winning a round shows capacity to ..well win a round...and you need to win 4 of them to win a cup. In the last 100 years there are probably 0 cores that lost 6 straight in the first round that went on to win the stanley cup.

“On my next deal, I'll take less again. Because I want to win with this group.” - Mackinnon.
MacKinnon has been a self righteous whiny woe is me bitch about this whole contract thing. Pure delusion. He never took less in the first place. He was a 50-55 point player before the contract and then broke out after. What he got was more than fair at the time and slightly inflated with an expectation of increased performance. But he just can't stop patting himself on the back.

Great player though.

I think the reporter was saying he's on a steal of a deal now. I don't think their was a debate about what he was worth when he signed. Mackinnon acknowledges that he is underpaid now, but says he intends to make sure his next contract is somewhere where the team will be to remain competitive.

Edit: confirmed see article snip below. Seems to be quite the contrary to the image you painted of him.

Nathan MacKinnon said he would take less money in his next contract to help the Colorado Avalanche in their effort to win the Stanley Cup.

"We have guys that we wouldn't (otherwise) be able to bring in," the 24-year-old center told Forbes on Wednesday. "On my next deal, I'll take less again because I want to win with this group."

MacKinnon is in the fourth season of a seven-year contract with an average annual value of $6.3 million, well below the contracts of other marquee players in the NHL.

"I was just excited to get paid that much money at such a young age," said MacKinnon, who was 20 in the summer of 2016. "Obviously, it's pretty (team) friendly now, but I was worth that at the time. ... I have no regrets."

Though talk is cheap until he actually does it.

Let's see if he's able to over come his agent and Players union pressure + his own financial concerns first.

Yeah, he said that at 24.
He's 26 now, will be 27 September 1st.

It would be nice to see though, maybe some greedy farts will take notice and tell their handlers hands off.

Many a great underpaid player has held out for a better contract though without waiting for their current contract to end. Aaron Donald (NFL player) just did this in the last couple of weeks. Threatened to retire if they didn't rework his contract to pay him more in line with his play on the field.

I don' t see our greedy guys patting themselves on the back and claiming they would do it again. They'd be at a minimum whining about being underpaid. Marner whined about bonuses on his rookie deal.

Another call going Tampa's way.

If the "room" can't come up with a conclusive overturn in 90 seconds, call on the ice stands. This 5 minutes to review a play is too much.

It looked offside to me, not sure why it takes Toronto forever to make the call. Byram needs to be more aware, cost his team a goal.

sportsnet needs to replace Botteril with Ponder , i haven't seen her that much but the times i have she's much better than Jenny the Neck

Two goals tonight on Kuemper, that if were scored on Campbell (or any Leaf goalie) would have fans up in arms. Not skewering him, just that it's a damn tough position. And now a PP. Good game.

And now 3-2, penalties, a death sentence.

Doesn't Ponder work for TSN?
maybe , i've only seen her a few times like i said but every time i have i've enjoyed listening to her views

maybe she isn't better with a larger sample size but i don't see how she could be worse than Botteril
