While getting roughly twice the puck-luck offensively compared to the league's average in terms of individual and on-ice shooting percentage. This offensive breakout into a ppg+ player is fool's gold. He's more of a 45-50 point player.34 points in 31 games for Mason Marchment.
Win win trade for both teams. What a dominant game by Durzi tonight. He's poster boy for standing pat at the deadline unless it's young player with term.

Those guys weren't going to get the opportunity to put up points here. Also lol at putting Jarvis here. The only reason we traded that pick was because Lou gave Marleau a third year of term at 6+ million.Dubas.... this is sad:
Out:
C.Brown 30 in 41 - 3.6 million
Moore 33 in 58 - 1.8 million
Johnsson 28 in 52 - $3.4 million
Kadri 72 in 54 - 4.5 million
Marchment 34 in 31 - $800,000
Durzi 16 in 40 - $800,000
Hyman 37 in 50 - 5.5 million
Jarvis 20 in 45 - $925000
Andersen .928 - 27 wins - 4.5 million
Barabanov 27 in 48 - 1 million

27 millionish

Muzzin

Not complaining about the Muzzin trade or the Johnsson trade but the other trades Dubas has made have not ended well and he's let assets walk for nothing... and we haven't even gotten one series win for it.
And now he's going into a first round where he likely will face a team more difficult than the two he faced in the last two playoffs.
I'm curious to see the moves he makes, because you have to think this is a desperation year.

Dubas.... this is sad:
Out:
C.Brown 30 in 41 - 3.6 million
- Traded to dump Zaitsev in a big cap dump move, a necessary evil and still a win for Dubas
Moore 33 in 58 - 1.8 million
- Traded for Campbell, which was looking like a win until recently. Admittedly I like Moore and wish he was still here.
Johnsson 28 in 52 - $3.4 million
- 18 points in 20 games to start the season, 10 points in his last 32. Nothing special and good to get out of that contract.
Kadri 72 in 54 - 4.5 million
- 3 years after the fact as a pending UFA who more recently had his 3rd playoff suspension costing his team a series.
Marchment 34 in 31 - $800,000
- What was looking like a career minor leaguer to 99% of people made it 3 years after a nothing trade, during a season with unsustainable production. Good for Marchment, would’ve liked him here but hard to blame Dubas on a long shot late bloomer.
Durzi 16 in 40 - $800,000
- one of the worst defenseman defensively in the league, wouldn’t get an opportunity here over Sandin or Lilly, who are already being torn apart by this fan base despite being significantly better
Hyman 37 in 50 - 5.5 million
- Replaced by Bunting who is better and makes 1/6th the cap
Jarvis 20 in 45 - $925000
- Traded for a huge cap dump that tied his hands and demanded to be bought out of 6 mill. Dubas recouped the pick for Kapanen who is currently being run out of Pittsburgh.
Andersen .928 - 27 wins - 4.5 million
- Unfortunately Andersen couldn’t get it done here, we had to move on
Barabanov 27 in 48 - 1 million
- Goodwill deal that allows Dubas to sign these hidden gems knowing that if the don’t get their shot here, he’ll give them one somewhere else. The return on this deal is the cheap UFAs who sign here.

That's not entirely true. The only reason he gave the pick was because he put himself in a cap bind and was forced to move the contract. He had a choice and made it, he wasn't forced by anything but his cap management. Those guys weren't going to get the opportunity to put up points here. Also lol at putting Jarvis here. As usual, understanding the cap and the trade value of unsigned RFA's is not a strong suit here. That's not entirely true. All I'm saying is he had choices and he made one. That's his job and he isn't going to get them all correct. You know you gotta expand on how he mismanaged the cap his first year for context. Marleau was essentially done as a player with a 6 million dollar cap hit and had to be rid of.
Durzi would be eaten alive here… significantly worse defensively than Sandin and Liljegren with comparable offense. In fact, Durzi has been one of the worst defenseman defensively in the entire league while playing a depth role.
This is pure grass is always greener syndrome.

Some of you make it hard to cheer for ex Leafs to do well
Fans like you want to complain about Durzi, but don’t actually want a D like Durzi. If you are going to complain, at least do it right.
This guy was available at the Amirov pick and is looking great right now. Admittedly I was against drafting him at the time but he is making me eat crow.

Well we got a lot of years out of Muzzin and the concussion issues couldn't have been predicted so I guess he still fits the "with term" even though doesn't qualify for the young part. I'd let go of a top prospect if we got Lindholm and re-signed him so I'm flexible on young part priority on term depending on the player.Eh he got turned into a guy with term who then re-signed with the team. I'm fine most cases if the team makes a trade like that
Too bad he got away.. really could have afforded this...
