I’m going to be so f***ing pissed when Boston passes us AGAIN after we were ahead of them the first half of the season. Just like 2018 and 2019 when we last had normal seasons. f***s sake, I was worried in January when we were faltering but it looked like the Leafs had finally figured it out. All they figured out was how to extend the f***ing charade. God f***ing damnit.

On the plus side if the Leafs fall to #4 in the division they might get to play a Metro team in the playoffs. Boston can then worry about Tampa or Florida ;)

TNT crew saying Wild goalie needs to be better on those goals in today's games. They called out the goalie for not controlling rebounds.

Our main stream media says Leafs defence is terrible after our goalies allow floaters from the point, and can't control the rebounds.

This basically tells me our media is completely clueless.

Chicago put one off the post, and then the rebound went to a Hawk, who put it off the same post, and then the rebound went to a Hawk again (who beat two Tampa defenders to get inside position at the net), and it bounced off of him over the post.

Amazing what some puck luck can do.

Could easily be 3-0 Chicago right now.

EDIT: Just allowed another breakaway right after. It's hilarious that people think we have bad defense.

Robertson is ridiculously good around the net. His shot ain't bad either

6 weeks ago, it looked like Dallas was going to fight for a wild card spot. With their recent 14-4-1 run, they now have a chance at home ice in the first round

It is probably all those goals the other teams score on us that have people thinking our defense is bad. If it wasn't for that, everyone would think we have a really good defense.

Which would be all fine and dandy if goaltenders didn't exist.

Three bottom feeders such as Detroit, Buffalo and Vancouver score a total of 19 goals on us in three games and you think it is hilarious that some people consider the Leaf defense to be bad?
Yes, because even aside from it being a bad idea to evaluate teams on 3 cherry picked games, it's a horrible idea to look at goals against and ignore goaltending when discussing a team's defense. That's how somebody comes to horrible conclusions like the Leaf's defense being bad.

Lets uncherry pick and add in the Capitals game. That would be 22 goals their last 4 games. That just screams great defense. Yet you contend that it was all on the goalies. If you are happy with the team's defensive play last week then party on Garth.

4 games is still a horrible sample size to be drawing conclusions about a team from, but whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the fact is a lot of that goal total is on the goalies. They have been really bad lately, which is evident from their stats and just plain watching them. Leafs are a very good defensive team, and the defensive mistakes that people scream about happen to everybody.

From November 16th to November 28th, we allowed just 5 goals in 7 games. I think this is more accurate since it's a larger sample.

Fleury was pretty bad again tonight. Not sure why some fans want him here after he giftwrapped the series to the Habs last year and his below average play so far this year.

Fleury would’ve been the guy to get instead of Andersen back when Lou made the trade. Now though I’m not so sure I’d trust Fleury to outduel any of our potential opponents.
