Sabres clearly mad a mistake not letting Eichel get the surgery but their return wasn't that bad as it could have been worse such as getting Dach whom Chicago is trying to trade and probably because he's not what Chicago thought he'd be.

Saw on some Detroit page

Really good news for us if we're in need of a coach next year. Boughner's seat was the hottest of everyone left, now it's looking like there won't be much competition next summer for the coaching pool. Good chance NJ, decent chance Ottawa, Vancouver is a toss up, Toronto if things go south but other than that every other coach was either hired this year or last or is likely quite safe(Cooper, Bednar, Berube, Brind'Amour). Wild card might be Sullivan in Pittsburgh but that would also mean a really good coach being available.

Also another NY team, NY Mets have Happy Bobby Bonilla day:
They owe him 1mil per year til 2035.
Also note how the Islanders and Mets have matching jersey colors lol (orange and blue).

I saw that Bobby Bonilla day thing today. I guess it's good for the Islanders that they didn't defer the buyout payments like the Mets did. That compound interest is a killer; that $5.9m buyout will be almost $30m by the last year. On the other hand, how stupid was it for the Islanders to give a goalie a 15-year contract?

I think Russia is doing this to show what they'll do if they want players to not leave.
It happens only a few days before the NHL draft is not surprising.

At least now NHL teams know now to not draft Russians this year. This sucks.
Imagine having Miro or Yurov on the Ducks scoring goals.

It sucks, but I would absolutely risk a 2nd, maybe even a late first on one of them. Ducks need elite talent in the worst way.

Can't afford to have some shit happen... atleast for OUR team. I'll pass on Russians in the first round (sorry). Imagine we draft someone and we can't even use them, it would be devastating for this team that needs everything. There's no Russians in this draft that stand out more than others, so yeah... 2nd round sure 1st round f*** no for me.

It also messes up the order of the 1st round. Mainly for who is available at #22 unless one of the Russians was gonna go in the Top10.

burke would be proud

I think this Russia thing is only the start to a bigger problem with players drafted by NHL teams.
If the KHL teams are struggling financially they will draw even smaller crowds if their best players eventually leave.
So what could happen is Russia forbidding players to leave and forcing them to play in KHL for years.

The Russian goverment is probably keeping a really close eye on the most talented players such Yurov, Miro, Michkov etc. Michkov, Miro and Yurov could eventually be alot of money for the KHL in keeping their fans in seats.

It is f***ing messed up what is going on with Fedotov. He just wants to play hockey in another country and he ends up being a warning sign for other players. Russia doesn't care about its citizens at all.
When have they ever? The West forgot for thirty years that Russia has always been an inhumane shithole separated from the likes of Afghanistan solely by its stronger central government. And now that government has chosen to be openly antagonistic towards the West. This isn't new and shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.

No need to be condescending. It is just incredible how they find new lows.

No condescension really intended, my apologies. I just saw an opportunity to air out some of my frustration about the surprised and shocked reactions I'm seeing surrounding this matter, especially from our friends from across the pond. It feels like there's just this general sense of "can this be real?" from people despite the fact that Russia has been like this from the early 00s and is only being as brazenly open about it now that there's an armed conflict.

Like, this is nothing new, this is Russia. This is why Russia is still "an enemy", and should be treated as such. As a Finn, it really irks me that people seem to have forgotten or thought that stuff like this is beyond our times.

Really hope Fedotov gets to leave after his service. If he's even allowed to complete it without suffering career-threatening injuries. There might yet be some surprises in store for him, knowing the military there.
