I was shocked nothing was called on Doughty either. When it happened i figured 5 and a game was warranted.

Yea, that probably deserved that, at first I thought maybe I saw something wrong, maybe he turned...but no...that was just blatant from behind.....

the punch to Buch is the only thing i could see issue with. If Wilson was a King I would love it if he got a chance to ragdoll the other teams top player. It is too bad Panarin got injured there though

But he didn't, Quinn said after the game he was fine.

I thought so too. However, Garland knew Doughty was there the entire time. I'm betting the ref was thinking he put himself in that position on purpose. If that's a major, what's to stop guys from putting themselves in those spots knowing they are less likely to be hit so they can skate away?

from what I have seen of Garland he often makes himself vulnerable to get leveled. Valimaki has that same issue for the Shames.

Will be interesting to see if it impacts his durability.

garland spun into that hit, as he has a habit of doing. he's looking over his shoulder the whole time, sees doughty closing and spins

he's gonna have a real rough time in the NHL until he changes his attitude when he's around the boards, unless his goal is to draw penalties by getting utterly annihilated over and over

I wouldn't have been opposed to Doughty getting something for his hit on Garland, but I didn't feel it was as blatantly bad as Wilson's stunt, personally

I love that the Rangers released this statement and agree with everything, especially in asking for Parros to have his ass fired.

This is the exact moment that NHL hockey has jumped the shark. Embarrassing.

At least I can say that there is one team more sackless than the Kings.

Just go and take it out on the Caps tomorrow. "Horrifying act of violence". Woah boy.

Remember when the same clown Parros suspended Doughty in a playoff game for a hockey hit that caused no injury? There is zero consistency and accountability from Parros and the league’s department of player safety. The Rangers have every right to be pissed off considering that a knuckle dragger took out their best player.

If this was the Kings response, we could toss it in with Bark Madness and all the other soft, lame shit that they do.

Just go out and take care of it tomorrow like hockey players used to do. Hell, they could have suspended him one game so he didn't play tomorrow like they usually do in a situation like this but he's there for the taking, as are the Caps skilled players. Just shut up and go get him.

Indefinite suspension. Horrific!!! You can like the sentiment of Parros getting dragged but the statement is ridiculous.

I actually think it takes a set of balls to release a statement like that and shows the support they have for their player, rather than accepting the results like a bunch of chumps.

Now to see what type of retribution Wilson will face tomorrow, which by the way, is a nationally televised game on NBCSN.

Every single time you post, you show how much of a clown you are. Your defense of Wilson is insane. Parros needs to go because of a history of terrible calls, much like Wilson deserved a suspension because of a history of terrible plays. This is just another one to add on to the pile.

I've run out of rope for Wilson. He injures multiple guys every single year. When he ends someone's career, will we be surprised? Probably not. What if it's Byfield, or Vilardi, or Bjornfot? Will we be wondering if there was anything more that could have been done?

I'm just not okay with Wilson' actions anymore. They're consistently indefensible. The league got this one wrong, bottom line.

On a side note if it was this orginization Blake and the crew will write a letter to the NHL cordially asking if they can possibly look into this situation and maybe ask Mr. Tom Wilson to try not to go so hard on our top players. Then thank Mr. Wilson for beating the sh*t out of our players and ask him politely please can you take a easy on our guys. Thank you. "F**k ME!!!"

Wilson didn’t do anything to Buchnevich in the crease that warrants any supplemental discipline. His tussle with Panarin was well after the whistle and resulted in an injury in the course of a fight. AFAIK the calls were matching minors for roughing, but Wilson also got a misconduct. Again, not a case for supplemental discipline.

I would have liked if he received some kind of suspension of 5 games or so, based on repeat history. But given the lack of clear penalties on the plays, what are you going to do?

You're being dramatic. Which was the point of my post, to point out how people are over reacting.

And this is why we have a violence problem in this country. If you can't see how smashing a helmetless skull into the ice from a standing position could lead to paralysis or death, I don't know what to tell you.

"Thawts and pRay3Rsssssss!!!"

Wilson gets the hate due to a lack of respect and a long history of suspensions. The dude doesn't learn.

He even added to the douchery by flexing after sucker punching a defenseless player.

I did not like the Lemieux acquisition, but one thing I appreciated was the genuine concern over the well-being of Manson after he clowned him in a fight.

Wilson's behavior at this point is indefensible. And I'm glad the NHL got called on their bullshit.

ooooh baby that public statement is spicy. i think it's a bitch move but i kinda respect it at the same time

can't wait to see how much they're gonna be fined and if they're willing to stick to their guns

I mean that's about as serious of an admonishment of an NHL employee as I can ever remember. On the one hand, it feels like going to the principal's office to tell on someone, but on the other hand, these are businesses worth a lot of money, and this is no joke. If advertising dollars start to get involved, we'll see change.

Is Capital One excited to see Wilson going nuts with their logo on his helmet?

If this were decades ago, Wilson would get the Ulf Samuelsson special that Tie Domi doled out. Granted, Domi could have killed him and probably would be in jail today though but it seemed like most of the NHL kind of insinuated that it was well deserved.

Sure was a different time.

Stewart seems to feel the same way:

I agree.

The point is, is the league going to protect the players or will they let the teams do it by getting rid of the instigator nonsense?

Preferably, they actually do their job protecting the players. I don't feel right telling someone the only reason they're on the team is the willingness to get their orbital bone caved in.

But in the absence of them actually protecting their players, then teams need to know it's okay for shit like this and bring back enforcers.
