it's just crazy right? buchnevich has got his arms at his sides, stick pinned under him, wilson's stick holding him up by the trachea, and this absolute moron thinks it's a great time to punch the guy?

like there's being tough, and then there's being violent for no reason..

In a 2019 draft redo, I wonder where Caufield would get picked.

Laine is on the 4th line in Columbus. He's an RFA this offseason. His MQO is 7.5M. Who's going to pay him that?

There’s talk of that guy being on Team Canada, I certainly hope so! He would single-handedly drag that entire roster down.

Not sure which is worse... Panarin wasn't even getting in there to fight him. Obviously Wilson saw that and immedietly sprung into caveman mode.

the kick through the skates while throwing a helmetless, non-fighting, star player is beyond words to me. the buchnevich punch is nothing in comparison

it's crossing so many lines in professional sport that it's completely indefensible and i genuinely hope they throw the book at him because no matter how many times he's suspended, he does not learn

Columbus will, that would be huge egg on the face if they don't. Probably the best thing for both sides if they do a 2 year $15m. Laine won't get that much on the market if Columbus doesn't tender him and Columbus can try and salvage him. What a disaster situation though.

2019 draft looks strong, really deep, although maybe no true superstar. Currently 14 guys on NHL rosters as 19 or 20 year olds. I think most people would have Caufield 7th, behind Hughes, Kakko, Seider, Zegras, Dach and Cozens. Hard to ignore what Knight is doing though. With Caufield the holes are there, and will always be there and Montreal will have to figure out how to address that, but good lord can he shoot the puck. So many goal highlights this year you just hear the puck go post and in. That is why I was so bullish on him, it doesn't really matter who is in goal, even against the best NHL'ers, if you can shoot pucks that accurately you are going to score a lot goals. I'll get laughed at and ridiculed for years if I am wrong, but I think he has a chance to be the best player in the draft. I just don't see a Mackinnon or Matthews like alpha center in this group. So give me the potential 50 goal guy on the wing.

At this point, I'd like to see Wilson with a full year suspension. Anything less would be a shame. The guy goes out there to try to hurt people. He's Matt Cooke all over again, packaged in a bigger body. I wouldn't be upset if they just kicked him out of the league. The guy's a dirtbag and doesn't deserve to play hockey anymore.

Nothing will change until the NHLPA goes a long with it. I say this every time one of these bums does this, why does the NHLPA defend a member who attempts to seriously injure another member?

It's just the most backward thing I've ever seen.

THIS. So sick of him.

I'm sure the Rangers are being precautionary, no need to play him with a week left. Hopefully it's not a concussion or head injury.

How can the Caps defend this again? How many times can they issue a generic statement after he goes caveman. The NHL should toss him out.

Great message for DoPS to send. Injure two of the other team’s best players while they’re defenseless? 5k fine. I’m not sure why Wilson wouldn’t just try to do this in every playoff series if that’s all they’re going to do.

If we are basing the fine on the play in isolation, it's about right. After watching the replay it appears some of your opinions might be based on accumulated actions. Which the league clearly did not base the fine on.

Considering disciplinary history is taken into account for supplemental discipline, why wouldn't it be based on accumulated actions?

I love Wilson as a player but what he did to Panarin is way over the line and he should be done for the year at minimum. He got lucky Panarin was not hurt more serious or there would be a huge lawsuit and black eye on the NHL.

What is the point of having a Department of Player safety when a player seriously does not give a shit about other player's safety? Wilson can be an effective player, but he just loses his mind sometimes and deserved a hell of a lot more than a slap on the wrist.
