I have been to their training center, Solar4America - they have a HUGE mural on the wall upstairs (like 10 feet by 25 feet) with the team surrounding the Clarence Campbell Bowl (or whatever it is). That's gonna be the high water mark for all these teams they had. Lol...poor Sharks.

hahahahahahah! I almost feel bad for the sharks.

It sounds like Bracco has been scratched for the Marlies. Back with the Soo, Dubas traded a haul for Campbell as a rental(even though he had Matt Murray already on the team) and the Leafs are looking for a goalie.

How would people feel about a Bracco for Campbell swap?

I don't fully buy into Bracco panning out, but he would definitely be an interesting lottery ticket to acquire.

No timeline for his return per the Marlies HC.

As fun as a Cgy/Edm series would be, the Flames aren't very good. They're surviving, barely, because of a 6-1 SO record. They only have 4 more regulation wins than the Kings. They probably shouldn't be a playoff team, but California is irrelevant, and the "Thunderdome" isn't quite the Thunderdome anymore.

The difference a year makes for the Flames though.

18-19:
Gaudreau, 36g, 99pts
Monahan, 34g, 82pts
Lindholm, 27g, 78pts
Tkachuk, 34g, 77pts
Giordano, 17g, 74pts

19-20, on pace for:
Tkachuk, 26g, 65pts
Gaudreau, 21g, 64pts
Lindholm, 33g, 61pts
Monahan, 24g, 58pts
Giordano, 8g, 41pts

Wow, you hate to see it.

I guess seeing as they changed the slashing rule basically just for him, I wonder if Little Johnny just shook his hands so hard so many times that he's messed up his wrist ligaments.

I don't think it's misleading. It better describes how their power play is now. It's a significant sample size and the graphic is properly labelled with "Since November 20th.

A real crazy statistic that I wouldn't believe if I hadn't checked it myself is that the Kings, since the New Years Eve game against the Flyers, have a 44% power play percentage.

Nice call out!

Btw, MTL has 4 ex-Kings (Kovi, Weal, Thompson & Folin) - no wonder they’re not going to make the playoffs.
I thought Nate and Folin were pretty solid when they were in LA.

Would've liked to have Folin back for another year but I guess MacDermid is the tougher player.

Muzzin I think, is going to play the field. He'll have his agent/group talk to the LEafs but I think he has a sense that there will be more $$ to be had elsewhere, given , as you pointed out, other issues/contracts that the Leafs have to get to.

I think he stays with the Leafs while Barrie and Ceci leave as UFA’s this off-season.

Those two count for roughly $7-7.5 million against the cap. Muzzin gets a raise of, say $1.5-2 million. They can work him in and Muzzin has mentioned his preference to stay in Toronto. Could be just saying the right things but I would tend to believe him.

plus their goal differential is terrible. The flames have been masked by good goalie play.

What would you guys think about this trade??

Martinez and Campbell to Toronto for Kasperi Kapanen

I know the Kings are rebuilding and acquiring picks/prospects is the focus, but bringing in a player like Kapanen (23 years old, high skill, VERY fast) could be really nice for the Kings. He could be really great on Kopitar's right wing and is signed through the next 2 seasons at $3.2 million/year.

Kopitars wing? Hes stapled to Iaffalo and Brown and nothing can change it unless one of them is injured. Maybe kapanen would be able to play on his wing in a preseason game for a couple shifts next season like the chance kovalchuck got there.

I MEAN C'MON, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?

Poor Buffalo fans - try waiting to win a Stanley Cup for 45 years!

Oops, they haven't won one yet.

Iafallo has more points than Kapanen this year. KK is a low IQ speedster with tweener production, I can only imagine how hated Kapanen would be on here if the Kings acquired him.

Okay so maybe not on Kopitar's wing (at least right away) but he's still only 23 years old and has a ton of speed and skill.

But then again, maybe his production so far and all the hype around him is inflated with him being in Toronto.

Just thought it could be a nice trade. Kings move out Martinez and Campbell and bring in a fast/skilled 23 year old winger, especially a RW where the Kings are very brutal outside of Brown and Toffoli (who won't be on the team in a month)

I could see those two going to Toronto, but they're not getting an experienced 23 year old with any sort of potential for Martinez and Campbell. Muzzin didn't even bring that much back, and Martinez is not as good as Muzzin. Campbell has yet to play even 60 games, and goalies in general don't tend to have a ton of value.

Price Check

TSN Senior Hockey Reporter Frank Seravalli surveyed executives around the league Wednesday to determine what the return for Ilya Kovalchuk could be if the Montreal Canadiens decide to move him before the deadline.

Kovalchuk, 36, has five goals and 10 points in 13 games since joining the Canadiens on a one-year, $700,000 deal last month.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported last week the belief from some teams was Montreal would accept no less than a second-round pick for Kovalchuk, but Seravalli's research suggests that price tag won't be met over the coming weeks.

“I think a fourth-round pick is the best they’re going to get at this point,” one assistant GM told Seravalli. “But if we keep seeing these goals for the next three weeks …”
"A third or a fourth,” another said.

“That certainly seems reasonable under the circumstances,” another East executive said before adding, "I don’t think they can get a second-rounder.”
