1/6 wins needed for LA in the Campbell/Clifford era for the Leafs. Clifford had 3 hits and 2 shots in 12 minutes. Took 2 penalties as well. Campbell stopped 26/30 shots. One on the power play, one short handed.

Weird.

Calder race but might be opening up a little bit and with no fault from the two previous leaders, Elvis has just been on fire.

Last 10 games

Makar - 3-5-8-+2/ 21 Min TOI
Hughes - 4-5-9-+2/ 23 Min TOI
Merzlikins - 9-1-0 - 1.41 GAA - 95.3 save%

Olofsson was on pace for 30G and 70 Points before he got hurt and may not even be a finalist at this point.

That he has. Last night was his 5th shutout in 8 starts. Last time a rookie did that (according to NHL network was in 1939

Jackets are really playing well

That’s gonna be expensive. And the coyotes of all teams...

Honestly, I think a fine is absurd for willful misconduct like this. You don't think Toronto is able and willing to fork out $5 million to get additional info on 20 prospects?

That $5 million should be imposed on their cap, or the players should be ineligible to be drafted by Arizona.

The kids go through enough throughout the year, that they shouldn't have to go get tested, potentially, an additional 31 times.

They lost Bob and Panarin and haven't missed a beat.

32 games into the season they had 1 more point than the Kings, and their goalies had .906 and .889 sv%'s. Leading scorer had 10 goals and 20 points. Since Dec 15th, .953, .946, and .940 sv%'s, the best record in the league, and other then TB, the rest of the league isn't close.

There was a beat missing in there somewhere, but they've been a 139 point team in the last 23 games.

I don't know if there's a set in stone penalty for this, but if there isn't, you figure there's a few things going on. It's Arizona, so they get the warning. If Toronto was doing it, maybe it's a bigger penalty. I don't know, life isn't fair. Should any other franchise, including Arizona, do it again though, a hammer would have to then come down? Sort of like all the pre-2013 contract stuff. Everyone was pushing envelopes, but then Lamoriello had to be the rebel and go even further and more blatant than everyone else, and that's why NJ got hit. The league eventually sort of let it go, gave the Devils a pick back.

Since, as far as we know, nobody else was doing this prospect workout thing, Arizona gets hit, but not in a crazy way. Everyone is now on notice though. If there's a set, limited penalty, regardless of any context, then that would change my perception on the theory. I didn't even know you could do that though. Has it ever happened before? It would be surprising if they already had a penalty to deal with it. It's tough to account for every possible variable before they all happen.

31 thoughts had a more thorough description of the violations. Apparently at one point when Tim Murray was GM of the Sabres he asked how much the fine was and he was told it was $250,000 per violation. I can't imagine that fine has gone down, if anything it has gone up. Friedman also mentioned that when the league asked other teams if they were doing the same physical testing and they all pointed back at the Coyotes. The Coyotes are not denying the physical testing, but arguing that by their interpretation it isn't physical testing. I have to imagine the NHL comes down hard on them, trying to exploit loopholes that go against the spirit of the rule has to piss of the league.
