Now's probably a good time to point out that Arizona has the 2nd highest hit in the league next to TO with very little flexibility for next year--the only hits they move by default (and some they'll certainly re-sign):

UFA: Taylor Hall, Soderberg, Richardson. RFA: Hinostroza, Christian Fischer (will be re-signed I'm sure--cap goes up), Lybushkin, Hill. They'll also lose nearly 2 million from Mike Ribeiro's buyout.

Somehow they'll probably need to shed some contracts too so they can actually bring up draftees but yeah. Not a financially healthy place to be when you're getting ready to compete, though they'll certainly remodel heavily in 2022.
Looks like an opportunity for LA to take some salary off their hands, of course for a 1st round pick or high prospect(s).
When someone is sinking, best to toss them an anchor.

I’m just happy to see the “Battle of Alberta” seems to be back after years of being dormant.

Best part is Kassian’s first game back from his suspension is against the Flames who they will play back to back.

I want him to line up next to him , then jump him, the way MT seems to do whenever he tries to start a fight.

Oilers fan coming in peace. I know we’ve had our differences in the past, but at least there’s one thing we can all agree on and it’s nice to see the rest of the league sees that little rat Tkachuk for what he is. Don’t know the next time you guys play them but hoping to see Doughty lay him out a time or two :thumbu:

And it won't be a teammate. The weirdest thing about all this was not one Flame came to the aid of their best player while he was getting beat down. Lindholm gave a slight effort but the incredibly powerful left hand grab of James Neal somehow pulled him away.

I mean, how are they supposed to come to the aid of their best player without refs holding back all the opposing players? It's hard for Flames to punch unrestrained players...

Okay, so if someone really hates Tkachuk make this your avatar and start posting on the main board constantly.

Someone hold my light blue please.

Caps paying for that Cup. They're lucky Samsonov has been pretty good. They might be lucky enough to be able to let Holtby go. If they're rewarding a 32 year old Backstrom with a $9m cap hit, what would a 30 year old Holtby cost?

But, since 07-08, the Caps have the best record in the league. 3rd best GF, 2nd if you take out Vegas. Just the 1 Cup though. They're the Atlanta Braves of the NHL.

I don't get why the Kings just don't put Dustin Brown on the ice every time Tkachuk is on the ice with the express purpose of hitting Tkachuk every time he touches the puck.

I've said it for a while. Tkachuk is Sean Avery with more skill and more pedigree. And for me that is not a knock.

I liked the entertainment Avery brought on the ice. When he was in LA he was a loan bright spot. I like him and Marty going at it when he was a Ranger, and it I think Avery helped grow the game as much as any player in his era. The off ice crap and being a poor team mate are fair reasons to hate him, but spending money on a Kings ticket was more worth it with Avery in the line up.

If Tkachuk were a king I would absolutely love him. He goated a guy into 4 minute penalty that won the Shames the game. His hits are always questionably late, and borderline. We used to have to defend Brown's hits for being the same (Brown just wasn't much of a little peckerhead).

Brown would struggle to catch him...and Tkachuk is not the quickest skater by any means.

It is a large number but if you think of it as only a $2.5M increase seems more manageable.

They weren't going to resign Holtby from what I've read, asking price too high. Samsonov is their guy going forward
I like Backstom, but that deal is going to bit them, too much term.
