Why they hell is Gallant out?

I was shocked as well. But coaches often pay the price when a team is not performing up to their (owners) standard, in this case, they seem to be lacking an intensity. I think, this came from above the GM.
I think it' s a mistake. I like DeBoer, best of luck but I like Gallant better

If Seattle is smart, they'll sign him.

Since the beginning of last season, 18 NHL coaches have been replaced.

Kelly McCrimmon on NHL Central now, facing the media. Said no specific reason for Gallant firing, just ' a feeling that a change was needed'
Why DeBoer, 'respected in industry, well prepared coach, etc."

DeBoer sure bounces around to a lot of good teams. Hasn't shown he can get them over the hump, though. I get the expansion honeymoon is over, along with the perks that went with it, but kind of a dumb move, IMO.

With Hart being injured I wonder if the Flyers would be interested in Campbell?

I would think they should just keep Elliott and Lyons for the next few weeks. , but maybe worth a shot

I would say that scenario is likely. Lyon was recalled today.

They also have former King J.F. Berube on the farm.

They had to send Farabee back to the AHL and put Stewart on waivers to make room for Lyons, but that is their path.
They have goalies in the system (Berube and Felix Sandstrom). And fortunately for them, the All Star break, they only have 6 games between now and 2/1/20. So they should be okay. Elliots been good this year.

Gallant you can double your salary before you leave town. Just go down to the roulette table and put it all on black.

good point with the all star break, and it makes sense that Elliott wold just be asked to play more. It's why they kept him. I just want some friggin kings trades.

I remember Gallant completely changing that Florida team when they got there, huge improvement and a 100 point season. Then after a couple years the team struggled a bit and he was let go, almost exactly like the Vegas situation without the expansion element. Florida hasn't hit those numbers since. They look better again now under coach Q, but when it happened they regretted firing him soon after. I think Vegas will as well, even though DeBoer is a good coach overall.

Gallant has never lasted for more than 3 years, apparently teams run out of patience with him. He doesn't come across as a crazy person or anything, so not sure what it is.

He seems like a rough coach and may be a bit of an asshole behind the bench, but I didn't hear anything about Vegas players tuning him out. I genuinely think this is a panic move because they keep yo-yoing in the standings.

Their best forwards are wingers. Karlsson is on pace for 16 goals, down from 24 last year, and 43 in the golden year. Stastny is 34, and has 12 goals and 21 points in 49 games. He's Jeff Carter. They still don't have a true #1D, and have been getting by on what they have collectively.

They just might not be that great of a team. They rode a lot of career seasons in 17-18, and haven't been able to get back to that. Even Subban was 13-4-2. Last year, they fell to 93 points from 109.

Does what looks like it could be an average team necessitate a coaching change? I guess if the front office thinks the team is more than just that, then yes?

Agreed. This has ownership written all over it.

McPhee/GMGM is next in line to walk the plank.

Be something if Dean Lombardi took over but I don’t think he’s GMing ever again.

I think if he wants to GM again he will. Was thinking the Devil's should ask him but sounds like Fitzgerald is their guy going forward.

Maybe he goes back to San Jose as I could see Wilson being shown the door. Maybe nashville finally moves on.

Lots of maybes out there
