Turtles...whilst wearing WARRIOR gloves. Someone good with photoshop should make them say TURTLE
Tkachuk took multiple strides for each hit on Kassian who was in some pretty vulnerable positions each time. He did not ease up.Is Tkachuk an absolute punk? Yes. Don't like him. Reasons are obvious.
However, he laid out Kassian twice with hard, legal hits. Oilers fans disagree because nobody understands the ****ing rules, but principle point of contact on both hits were the body and Tkachuk doesn't leave his feet. DOPS will not suspend Tkachuk.
My problem is this thing in the NHL whenever a guy gets laid out clean, the hitter is then almost universally forced into a situation where he has to fight and go to the box for 5 or, in Tkachuk's case, turtle.
Tkachuk at times is asking for it, but I thought Kassian's response was gutless.

Kassian beat his ass and rightfully so. Can't be taking runs like that and not expect to drop the gloves.
Yeah and Steve Downie "glided" into this hit as well just after taking multiple strides .Nope, Tkachuk was gliding into each hit. And Kassian had the puck in his possession both times, with his head down.

Above: he's already stopped making strides and is into a full glide about 10 feet away from Kassian. Not a charge.

Above: same. Doesn't take any more strides. In fact, Tkachuk even turns his body and hits Kassian squarely.

Tkachuk plays on the edge and sure, we can qualify him as a punk player. But these hits were fine. JFC I can't believe I'm defending Tkachuk but I'm just being objective.

Tkachuk got what was coming. We need more of this to take care of the rats in the league. My applause goes to Kassian.
I guess we'll agree to disagree then.lol wow completely different hit
- head is principle point of contact
- launches up and FLIES into him, leaving his feet by an egregious amount. like holy **** man.
c'mon man, not even comparable
I guess we'll agree to disagree then.
If you want a league where you can take runs at players and not have to pay the consequences then go ahead.
I'll gladly take having the Kassians/Cliffords/MacDermids patrolling the ice.
they were both technically clean hits but he knows very well that they're predatory when kassian is engaged with giordano
they don't have to either be clean or gutless, they can be both. turtling after taking runs like those is grade A chicken**** and he knows it
i can only hope someday someone gives him the tie domi elbow and he learns something about being a tough guy

Doughty would probably get dropped by Tkachuk.Hits were clean. If you run a goon that hard twice, you'll have to answer or not answer and get fed.
Tkachuk chose the latter. That said, he knows what he's doing and would never fight Kassian. He will try to get him to take a major, however.
This changes nothing about how Doughty should fight Tkachuk. Kassian is a HW while Tkachuk is a light weight. If Doughty can wrestle an actual man in Thornton, he can square up with Matthew. After how he clawed and beat on Doughty earlier this year, Drew should want to fight the guy.
It's not like Doughty would be fighting the toughest Tkachuk. Matthew is third on that list behind Brady and, far and away, Keith.
Leafs getting tuned up 6-1 midway through the 2nd. Panthers have 3 goals on 3 shots in the 2nd thus far.
Andersen chased from the net again. He’s been poor lately.
