Just saw this for the first time today. Pretty unbelievable.
Looks like Chicago got a BOGO surgery deal - deHann and Seabrook.
Lots of cap space for them this year. Would make little/no sense to use it. Their season is done. But, maybe they’ll trade for Toff?!? :naughty:

Doug Wilson should be canned if they miss the playoffs. No cap space, no draft picks, old core. They do have some young talent but they're not game changers.

Edmonton is 4-10-1 in their last 15. That's a worse points% than the Kings had in the first 17 games this year.

Tippett is a good coach and I expect they'll turn it around. he changed all 4 lines ,which should net better returns, apparently McDavid's 5x5 numbers are better w/o Draisaitl.

Neal-McDavid-Kassian
Khaira-RNH-Gagner
Nygard-Draisaitl-Chiasson
Sheahan-Haas-P Russell

And I think there might be move coming, they waived Manning and Granlund. Manning is safe in the AHL but Granlund is a decent depth pickup for somebody.

Anyone remember what the mid 90's were like for the Kings?

The Sharks are about to go down that path, alot of the 93-94 Kings in this years Sharks. And it's not going to get better with so many guys on the wrong side of 30. How Doug Wilson has been employed for 15 years I will never ever know.

Doug Wilson made all the moves he did over the last four years knowing full well he won't be around to clean up the mess when or if it all goes south. I think GM's today know that if their gambles don't work out they get fired, the mess is another GM's problem.

I mean, that has to be seen as a major blemish on Wilson's record. For having such a good team year after year, he never 'went for it' hard until it was far too late.

So the Blackhawks get out of a cap circumventing deal with Hossa's allergies, now they have a medical issue with Seabrook and his anchor of a contract?

New CBA should have a provision that, if a player is LTIR for longer than x number of months, the team is no longer allowed to go over the cap by the player's cap hit.

You mean like Pronger? The entire league knew he wasn't coming back and the league not only allowed his LTIR contract to come off the books, but trade it ...then be hire by the NHL as an employee while still being paid.

Should GMs always be loyal to the future of a franchise? It's not like it's a family. I guess in some ways GMs are caretakers, but as long as their jobs are dependent on 30+ other people performing, they also have to be somewhat selfish.
