Rangers and Panarin , 81.5M x 7 yrs, 11.6 per

He was offered more $$ from Isles, Avs and Jackets but wanted NYC.

Trouba, Fox, Kakko...they are moving up in the division.

After tax salary cap? It ain't happening.

Why an after-tax salary cap is unlikely to ever come to the...

The five NHL teams with no state income tax (Nashville, Florida, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas and Dallas) have the biggest advantage here while Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa are at the back of the pack, just behind the teams in California.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly admitted owners have been known to occasionally express their frustration about the situation.

What is clear in those comments is that teams who don’t love the current arrangement won’t get much sympathy from the office of commissioner Gary Bettman. It is much easier to simply lump a tax disadvantage in with all the other pros and cons of any given market like weather, quality of life and the extent of travel on a road schedule.

It’s easy to say a team playing in a jurisdiction with lower taxes has an advantage in attracting free agents. But since July 1, 2014, that has not necessarily been the case.

Breadman gets 11.6 per year for 7 years brutal. Love seeing everything New York doing stupid things.

Shocked he is back in the NHL, I thought that ship had sailed.

Leafs fans are going to hate him.

Shore will crumble under the pressure of Toronto. Easily one of the most timid hockey players I have ever seen. I'll be surprised if he plays 20 games as a Leaf before he's cut.

If Panarin turns out to be one of those guys who remains productive into his early/mid 30's it will be okay. It's a risk of course.

He'll be 28 at the begining of the season. He'll be 34 in his last season of the deal.

Panarin - Zibanejad - Kakko could be a fun line.

NYR is pathetic. Just throw money at your problems until they go away.

They’re not winning anything anytime soon.

Disagree. I like John Davidson and think he will turn this team around. I think they will move some pieces out to upgrade at center, they need to do that. But they are a much better team now than they were in APril.
