The Bob deal, and moves by teams to get mediocre goalies (e.g., Smith to Edmonton) makes me believe that Blake is not shopping Quick. There is no reason why Quick should not be a hot commodity if this is what is going on in the league. $5MM AVV, great success, and still a solid goalie. Every goalie has a bad season, and Quick's is excusable, considering the entire team played like garbage in 18-19.

Personally, I don't think we should trade Quick. Time to sell Campbell while his value is high and have Quick and Peterson in the net, but with Peterson getting 30-40 games so that Quick doesn't get run to the ground. Frankly, I am not very confident that Campbell can be a starting goalie. We have yet to see him play a half season.

A team that thinks they have a shot, and their goalie goes down , would take a shot on Quick in Feb at the deadline. Hopefulliy he has a good year

Sharks fans are in tears.

Pavelski will have a better shot at wining in Dallas. He won't have to be THE guy and will get to play along some pretty damn good forwards and a young defense.

He didn't have to be THE guy in SJ last year either. Consider that Labanc finished with 56 points, Benn had 53, and Thornton had 51.

Will be 34 in January, the $5.8m cap hit, the $7m salary this year, and 4 years left on on the deal, with no indication yet he'll be going on LTIRetirement. That's a hefty investment, in a volatile position, especially if you're giving up assets. What's the difference between not shopping him, and other teams looking at other options first? Or even shopping him, but other teams looking at easier options first?

The problem with Quick, and really any goalie, is that they're likely not going to carry a team anywhere. It happens, but you never know who will do it, when it will happen, or how many times it'll happen. As great as Quick was against Vegas, the team won 0 games. Quick has 1 playoff win since 2014. Again, not all his fault, but how good of a team do you have to be to take full advantage of an older goalie with a big salary? A younger Quick couldn't get an average at best Kings team more than a single win in the playoffs. If he had just 1 year left, he would've already been gone, but that 10 year deal to cheat the cap pretty much sealed his fate.

McKenzie saying SPezza will sign a 1 yr deal w/ Leafs

LeBrun saying the Leafs are getting a lot of calls for Kadri

Le Brun - Canes offered Aho 8 x 7.5 , Aho wants 5 x 9.5.

and that's why Tallon is nuts...ripple effect

USA today has alive blog with rumor updates. According to this , Panthers still in it. I don't see how that is possible, with signing Bob, unless it's the tax free issue but still , that's insane.

NHL free agency 2019: Breaking down the deals and rumors on July 1

9:22 a.m. Rangers not giving up hope yet
Multiple reports indicate the finalists for Artemi Panarin are the Islanders, Panthers and Rangers ... with the Blue Jackets making a last-minute push to keep their superstar. This is a move that will reverberate around the market, especially with the Rangers, who seemingly have more forwards than can fit on the roster. But will Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello swoop in? Does Panarin want to join his friend Sergei Bobrovsky in Florida?

45 minutes until the GMs on other teams are idiots for signing guys to deals

And 45 minutes until our GM is an idiot for not signing anyone

We're all going to look back fondly on this offseason as the one that caused the lockout, a la Bobby Holik's 9 million a year deal way back when. It's like the GMs already see the writing on the wall and are just maxing the f*** out anyway hoping for a bailout.

Lotta stupid money being thrown around for players of not-elite levels.

And ugh, Toronto gets out from under Zaitsev for pretty much scot free by using the shit out of a worthless owner in Ottawa. Guess I didn't count on that being an out.
