Think that's a good deal for the Pens getting Galchenyuk and Jospeh. I also think Phil will thrive being in a less demanding market.

Pretty good return for Kessel, who will be 32 when the season starts. I think Arizona gets better next season, but worse long-term.
almost no risk for AZ with how kessel's contract is structured, much higher risk trying to pass off galchenyuk if he doesn't put it together this season

i'm honestly really happy for phil, he might even get a fat retirement contract out of the new ownership

High price for Arizona to pay, but there is some upside there for them if he can boost their offense, or even if they decide to flip him later on, especially if they couple that with retention. Hate that Kessel is in the Pacific.

Not for too long, right? With Seattle coming in 2021-22, that means Kessel will only be in the Pacific for two years, and the Kings won’t be contending next season at the very least.

You trade Galchenyuk for Kessel? What the heck

Likely a money in/money out thing. Only adding about $1m to the payroll next year. In the last 2 years, I believe Kessel will be paid a combined $10m(not counting Toronto). They have no cap left, but they'll still be one of the lower spending teams in the league. You figure if Galchenyuk has a decent contract year, he might end up with the larger hit/cash than Kessel has after the Toronto retention. His best season is also sort of average for Kessel, even before Pittsburgh. There's no Crosby or Malkin on the PP in Ari, but the Coyotes just want to start making the playoffs again.

A little bummed we haven't seen any roster moves from us.

I understand someone like Carter being hard to move but I'd expect Trevor Lewis could get dealt somewhat easily.

There's a dozen guys like Lewis in free agency. Nobody needs to give up an asset to get him for October. He's the perfect depth rental at the deadline.

Got to make room to get ready to overpay the Joonas Donskoi’s, Jordie Benn’s And Tyler Myers of the NHL World only to buy them out down the road.

I’m interested to see who commits term and big dollars to a declining Wayne Simmonds.
