Sportsnet or TSN a few days back said he had some phone interviews. Whereever he lands, their getting a good player . Not just for the stats/metrics, but he's warrior. Money player. Plays thru pain, etc. in the playoffs and gets the job done. And at 34, he misses the dreaded 35 and over contract. It does sound like the Stars are the frontrunner

Rangers won’t participate in bidding war

Artemi Panarin has been linked to the New York Rangers for quite some time now. With so much demand for the talented winger, Panarin will likely prompt a bidding war among teams (the Rangers, New York Islanders and Florida Panthers remain the most obvious contenders for his services). If a bidding war does indeed take place, Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported on Fridaythat the Rangers won’t be part of it.
“…we are told that if the Blueshirts extend Panarin an offer of seven years in the range of $11-11.25 million, they would not then increase their offer to match/exceed higher bids,” wrote Brooks.

If I was one of these teams in the market for Panarin, I would rather offer sheet one of Aho/Rantanen for 10.5M/7yrs. One of those guys in their prime is worth two 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd.

Both Carolina and Colorado seem like teams reluctant to spend big money. But then again Carolina did payout Marleau for a 1st.

There’s no way either club would let those impact guys walk for the uncertainty of draft choices.

I think Canes’ majority owner, Thomas Dundon would not be afraid to splash the cash to retain Aho.

Or Pointe, who wants an LTC in the 9M range. Bolts CAP is at 10.6M currently with only 16 players signed. But Pointe love it there and that 9M in FLA is 7M.

To me, he’s a better all around player than Marner. He’s the real catalyst in Tampa and should be in line for a nice little raise.

I do wonder if the Lightning and Point would go the route of a bridge deal.

I will be glad to see him gone from San Jose. That's going to be a big blow to the Sharts.

Sid gets a new winger and the Pens get the Yotes top d prospect. Nice pickup

Phil should do fine with Keller and Stepan and he's back with Tocchet, who he had a connection with in Pitts.

Pretty good return for Kessel, who will be 32 when the season starts. I think Arizona gets better next season, but worse long-term.
