William Karlsson got an 8-year deal at just under $6M.
So many buyouts in their future.
shocked karlsson signed for less than $6M after the contracts we've seen in the past week or two
probably some brown paper bag money involved there cause he really could have taken them to the woodshed..
he may turn out to be a bit of a bargain towards the end of that contract with how salaries are inflating
Considering it's Vegas they probably threw in some guaranteed advertising revenue from another company to sweeten the pot, for a lower contract rate. He would be the face of the franchise for the foreseeable future. In a city like Vegas his mug could move merchandise.
I think we should see a much improved power play out of the Kings this season. Brown is the guy to put in front of the net, not Kovalchuk. Kovalchuk needs to be the offside wing, opposite the lazy guy glued to the half wall, or at the point.Out of all the players who should be better off with a competent NHL coach it's Kovalchuk. TMAc isn't going to play him on the 4th line or struggle with "how to use him". As soon as the Kings signed Kovalchuk they should have fired Stevens. And they should have never hired WD40 who shockingly got another gig.
Yeah, if you're a professional hockey player in his 20's, and get to go somewhere else in the summer, there are a lot worse places to live than Las Vegas October - June.No taxes and sunshine go a long way too.
Its a fantastic deal for the team as far as a player contract goes, but they are WAY over the cap and are going to have to trade 1 or 2 guys for very cheap or futures. I'd guess that Marchessault at 5M per year is one guy they'd be looking to deal and/or maybe Colin Miller? I can't image that they are going to get back a huge amount for whoever they dump.shocked karlsson signed for less than $6M after the contracts we've seen in the past week or two

Hopefully, McLellan gets Kopitar to quit being so predictable on the half wall, or removes him from the #1 power play unit.
WD40 is back in junior hockey, where he belongs. He sure isn’t an NHL-caliber coach, which really showed last year.
Lmao it was such a long, awful season I nearly forgot the "we're just trying to confuse them" of putting Kovalchuk in front of the net.
Confuse for Hughes almost worked, though. Almost. If it weren't for those pesky lottery balls.
I don't think you know this but in order to raise taxes in California, you need a 2/3 majority from votersSomething should be done about that in the new cba that gives them the chance to add a couple better players/ vets while the taxed teams have to run with more ELC types . California heavily taxes higher incomes and it's only going to get worse with the super majority in the states government they don't have to ask us raise taxes anymore and have new programs rolling out constantly

Any interest in bringing Colin Miller back to LA? Vegas will have to trade some players to get under the cap. Thoughts?
It might be complicated, but I feel the cap should be based on player salaries after state or province taxes. So, a $5M post-tax salary in FL or MTL or CA would be the same cap hit. (The actual salaries would be different, but the post-tax hit are the same.) This would eliminate the inequity among the teams with no state income taxes and ones with high ones.I don't think you know this but in order to raise taxes in California, you need a 2/3 majority from voters
Wouldn't mind seeing the Kings trade for Dillon, then selling him at the deadline. He's under a pretty good deal at sub $4 million for the next 3 years. He will turn 27 in October.
Wouldn't object to it but, depends on what the price is. Vegas is cap strapped so unlikely they would ask for much in return (maybe pick(s)?) if they are looking to clear space.
I was also thinking Brenden Dillon who has one more year left on his deal. Same type of deal with SJ, they are still looking for cap space and if the Kings are looking for short term help on the backend, it might be an idea. Has some familiarity with TM as well.
Maybe a pick gets it done.
