I don't know, he's looking at it from a team/league/opposing team view, ie, omg Tampa just saved this much by doing that, how dare they......

And not at the competitive player angle that completely devastates them after news like that.....

If Tampa, or ANY TEAM does something like that to a player, that's not on the up and up....you would hear that player scream from the rafters and then some, almost reminds me of Joffrey Lupul and the Toronto Maple Leafs.....

EDIT: I was curious about the Lupul situation and found this, "In September 2017, the Leafs declared Lupul had failed his physicals at training camp before the 2017–18 season. Lupul then made several posts on his Instagramaccount saying he was healthy and accused the Maple Leafs of cheating by designating him injured so his salary could not count against the salary cap.[21] These accusations prompted the NHL to administer a second physical by an independent doctor, which he subsequently failed and confirmed the Maple Leafs' initial claim he was unfit to play.[22]"

So like I said....players will absolutely scream if it's not true etc.

They might, they might not. Remember Robidas island? Lupul seems to be the exception. But notice he's not latching on anywhere else either?

Exactly.

To steal one of your sayings, "It's not a video game".

These are real life people, and to think these players would just be ok with this is beyond ridiculous. But fans like to make conspiracy theories and/or get angry that teams are getting free of cap space. They did it with Richards, Horton and Hossa too.

Hey, go ahead and lecture the actual former pro that wrote that, then.

I think it makes plenty of sense. Like I said, both things are true, and I liked his phrasing: "a player - sometimes at the end of a declining career, with money still on their deal that they’d like to collect and the team doesn’t mind paying, save for the cap issues." Maybe they legit can't play anymore. But it nearly always occurs in the last few year or two of a contract and after a steep actual-money dive that they suddenly decide to stop putting wear and tear on their bodies.

It's not a conspiracy, it's a factual observation.

He's not latching onto anywhere else because he's FAILED his physicals, the point I am making is, was he quiet about it when he thought he was healthy enough to play? No, he wasn't. No one would be in their situation.

I don't think picking the one exception proves the point.

If anything, Mike Richards had more reason to bitch than anyone, yet he was quiet.

Marleau traded and to be bought out (to hurricanes for a conditional first+)

PK traded too (to the Devils)

Leafs fans are kinda upset about giving up 1st to dump Marleau

Leaf fans also were convinced that other teams wanted to trade for him for his 'veteran leadership' and not only shouldn't have to give up anything, but should have got back something worth their while in return.

Oddly, the guy who was lecturing me that Minnesota and St. Louis were 'closer' to SJ than To and thus they had like 15 actual options so they'd be getting a good return seems to have disappeared.
