Smart move. They'll probably get some good assets for a 33 year old with just 1 year left on his contract.

Yes. He has full control on all things related to the team.

In an unrelated note, the isles are asking NY for a 400k tax break to help re-renovate the Colosseum. The price has gone up from 6 million (think state is paying half) to 9.5 million to make it NHL ready. Belmont is already behind schedule, and the lirr helping out with a 3rd line and making belmont a permanent station are low (according to my buddies who work for the mta) And in Suffolk county an 18k arena got approved (with no tenant as of now).

That arena is 6 years away book it.

Wait... what? Really? Isn't that what the Isles were pushing for? Or did THEY want to own it and have the government pay for it?
No. Isles are approved to build and play at belmont (think states helping with financing that as well). The ronkonkama one recently got approved, now are doing environmental tests. No team is committed or has shown interest in playing there yet

They have a new GM so I won’t be surprised to see them make some moves.

Probably just due diligence. Re-verify their contracts and find out what options are available. That being said, they made rookie GM mistake at the draft so there may be bad knee-jerk reactions ahead.

I meant why they left the Mausoleum in the first place to go to Brooklyn.

Heh...

He may not have the same name recognition as Green or Johnson, but John Moore has rocketed toward the top of the class as a free agent in demand.

The Moore camp has fielded interest from more than a dozen NHL teams and has already conducted interviews with eight different clubs.

Moore, 27, has seen his stock rise considerably as the prototypical “modern” mobile defenceman who can join the rush in today’s NHL while also remaining responsible in his own end. He is one of just three defencemen in TSN’s Top 75 Free Agent list who averaged 20 minutes or more in ice time last season – Green and Olympic gold-medal winner Dan Hamhuis are the others.

If only they knew :)

When we start losing games in overtime, most people on this board will finally realize how valuable John Moore was to this team.

So his value really shines in an extra 5 minutes that doesn’t occur every game with 2 less skaters on the ice for each side?

That’s not exactly a good thing.

Moore has strengths to his game, but it’s better he walks. He will get paid on the open market most likely and we can hopefully find a more complete defender.

I don't really miss JJ and his shootout prowess. Not sure how much I'll miss Moore's OT heroics, especially since Hynes foolishly didn't seem to use him every time he could in OT.

If Tampa signs Tavares, JT Miller becomes available at a discount. Tampa has $10M in cap space and still needs to sign or move four RFAs.

Does that not sound like Shero's MO?
