Nashville Preds dealing with food poisoning. So many players sick , Poile not sure what kind of lineup he'll have for the game tonight.
He heard it was chicken soup.

I had it once and it was hell. Lost a week of work, had no strength, couldn't eat. Can't imagine how an athlete, esp a hockey player, having to play every other day in some cases, would take to fully recover. One player would be bad enough but 'a lot'...that's brutal.

Looks like the Isles players who've been complaining were right about the crappy ice (among other things)
Their home arena is not up to code

1. NHL source: Floor piping system at Barclays Center in Brooklyn does not meet NHL standard requirements for ice-making.

Just an absolute disgrace to have them play in that arena. Fans hate it because their views are obstructed, players hate it because the ice is crappy. I hope the isles find a new place because that arena is not made for hockey.

Just read that the Nashville Predators had to call up five AHL players because of a chicken soup food poisoning outbreak. So in comparison, we're rosy!

ETA - crediting Dee for the news above.

Haha. I was just about to remark on how great Toronto looks beating the Hawks, passing of the guard, etc, and the Hawks score two in a minute to tie it with less than two to go in the third.

Uh-oh. Old age and trickery still hanging on.

This Lindholm thing is really a mess. The Ducks probably don't have the cap to move Fowler and sign Lindholm. Even then, moving Fowler with a cap dump isn't going to bring back a good left wing they need.

Ducks might consider moving Lindholm, but still can't take any salary back, so if they moved him for a good/cheap young guy on an ELC they may still have to dump salary because the contract will have possible bonuses.

Love how surprised Vancouver is that their smoke-and-mirrors act isn't keeping up.

What's that, getting massively outplayed and winning every game without leading isn't a formula for season-long success? Who knew that .950 goaltending and 25% shooting was unsustainable? Crazy.

That doesn't extend to winning every game in OT does it? That part should be just fine. ;)

Milan Michalek (Toronto), Steve Bernier (NYI) and Jamie McBain (Arizona) on waivers today

Leafs claimed Ben Smith (avs) off waivers

I did suggest Bernier + Lindholm to LAK; got shut down instead.

Addendum: next time, I'll keep in mind to add picks from 1st three rounds for a proposal of this magnitude.

What I actually truly had in mind was:

LAK:
Bernier (1.95M retained by ANA), which the Kings will pay 2.2M for Jonathan Bernier
Negotiation rights for Lindholm

ANA:
Jack Campbell, 600K
Brayden MacNabb, 1.6M
1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks should Lindholm sign with LAK; 7th rounder for a failed negotiation

I'm guessing the Ducks would rather he sit out for the entire season than give him to the Kings.

Pretty much. I can confirm that notion, based on responses from the Lindholm mega-thread.

No doubt. I mentioned that with the Lindholm thing dragging out that the Ducks might look to trade him. That didn't go over well either. It makes sense though.
-Fowler isn't enough cap on his own to get Lindholm signed.
-Fowler moved with a cap dump isn't getting a return the fans would be happy with.
-Moving Bieksa/Bernier would be the GM admitting he made a mistake picking them up this year and is going to lose assets for it. I don't think that option works for their GM.

Moving Lindholm brings back a piece the fans can be excited about and doesn't look as bad from a PR perspective. Also would probably need to move a cap dump with Lindholm to be able to afford what's ever coming back. Really they're looking for a team that has about 9M of cap space and wants to spend it all. There're only a handful of teams that fit that bill.
