At least "we need more scoring brigade" cannot complain about amount of goals scored. Blowouts everywhere.

The founder of General Fanager Tom Poraszka got hired by Las Vegas so site is shoting down.

That became a go to site for me when Capgeek shut down. NHLNumbers and Cap Friendly I guess ...unless he has someone take over Gen. Fanager for him.

Good for him, tho, being hired as the hockey operations analyst for Vegas

Those stat gnats, when their good, use that talent well. Eric, the guy who years ago, did alot of stats, graphs, etc for Broad St Hockey, was hired 2 years ago as the Analyst for the Canes and has really helped them draft, sign and trade. You can see the difference on ice in the changes in areas where his knowledge helped.

James Wisniewski is closing in on KHL agreement with Barys Astana. 32, bought out by Hurricanes, just wants to play and hopes for NHL return

I thought he'd land a deal, just getting tougher. Hopefully it works out for him, and he gets back home next year.

@tangotiger

After 16 games: 6.8 goals per game in the NHL. Is this unusual? Splitting last year into 82 slices of 15 games, only 1 slice was higher.

I wonder if this is partially due to the new goalie pads being smaller. Whatever it is, it is fun to watch.

Connor McDavid with 6 pts already. I wonder if he stays healthy, he'll hit the 100 pt mark.

Vanek with 5 pts already, new start in Detroit, but his track record isn't good for consistency.

The goalie equipment was delayed a year. So it's not that.

Defenses look atrocious this year. Saw all 3 Edmonton games and the defense was just horrible. Same for Matthews first game. Phaneuf standing there doing absolutely nothing while Matthews was camped out in front of the goalie waiting for the puck. Sharks-Rangers game last night the goaltending and defense was very poor.

They've figured out how to increase scoring: don't let defenseman play defense anymore.

Go ahead and stand in front of the net now because you won't get cross checked or slashed without a penalty. Feel free to dump and jump around a guy because it will be an interference penalty if you are touched.

Get drilled in open ice with your head down and it will be a five minute major and a suspension.

cap friendly is my new go to

I prefered Cap Friendly because it was really similar to Cap Geek, but I really liked how Fanager had the mock expansion draft and the ability to compare similar contracts.

Happened in the NFL and NBA too. Although there are a few good defensive teams around. Only so much you can do in baseball. Lowered the mound.

I think leagues are in a tough spot when it comes to this. The guys that get paid the most money, are usually the best offensive players. You want those guys to be able to do what they're being paid a lot to do. You also can't just have it be a video game out there. Head injuries are a bigger issue than ever, and it's usually the guy without the puck/ball that causes the injuries to happen.

No easy answer.

Yup. NHL is moving away from the physical aspect of the sport slowly. NBA stopped being interesting for me when that happened.

Yep. Hockey is easily there for me already. I rarely watch non-Kings games now and my stance regarding the Kings the last little bit is that, if they weren't winning, watching every game would be a chore.

Feel like that theory is going to be put to the test this season. I've missed maybe 3-4 home games on average since 2001, trekking from Fountain Valley for most of it and Long Beach since 2012. I thought I would have cut my frequency as I got older but they started winning so I've kept the same pace. Pretty sure this is the year where I stop going to a game against CBJ on a Monday night. Barely any hitting, no fighting, very little nastiness or bad blood. If they aren't winning, why go to LA from LB during the week after driving to/from Mission Viejo for work every day? Not for this new era of hockey: no way.

I can't imagine what it would be like if the 2000s era Kings happened during today's game. Go to a game and watch two bad teams play with the nastiest moment being a player not saying "Excuse me" after bumping into a teammate during a line change.

I don't blame you. I know my brother let go of his seats this season, but he did it for financial reasons(just got married, new house, etc).

I don't think I'll ever let them go, especially since some of them are still at Die Hard prices. The two extras I have at normal STH prices though are going to bite me in the ass this season, however.

It's just going to make more sense for me to sell some of these weekday games. If I didn't go to 10 games this year, that would be a big jump. Not saying I'm abandoning them, I'm just going to be smarter with my time since I'm not young anymore.

NCAA Daniel Brickley

I heard them talking about this kid on one of my TSN podcasts, how good he is.
Left handed D

Talked about Minnesota State DMan, Daniel Brickley on InsiderTrading. 30+ NHL scouts at game on wknd to watch the college free agent.

Brickley is typical late bloomer. Now 6'3, 215 lbs. Good size and excellent poise with the puck. Oilers and Jets among many with interest.

Trocheck's controversial shootout goal

Last night's game between the Bolts and Panthers went to a shootout (which I turned on just before Trocheck left the blue line)
Trocheck's attempt below was considered a goal, even though is clear he lost control , fanned and then retrieved the puck and scored. It shouldn't have counted. Lucky for the Bolts, they won anyway.

The goal is shown at the 15 second mark and the good close up at the 38 second mark, and the overhead shots that follow shot it as well at the 1 minute mark and thereafter.

Toronto ruled it a goal, said it was the 'same motion' I'd say most anybody else would not agree

Lol, they counted that?

Major Karlsson ******* happening on the main board again.

Had to remind them that Karlsson will never win a championship.

I don't know. He might get traded or sign somewhere else eventually. :naughty:

Man did you guys realize how ****ing terrible that Bieksa contract is? $4M Matt Greene. NMC so he has to be protected in the expansion draft. People would be burning effigies in the street if Greene had to be protected in the expansion draft. The logical move would be to buy Bieksa out after being signed for one year. Being a 35+ contract they're stuck with the full 4M on the cap the next year.

It would be better to bury his contract in the minors. You might get the 900k relief. (haven't checked that) The problem here is that he has a NMC so Bieksa would have to approve it and still have to be protected in the expansion.

It gets better their options to free cap space are pay to move Stoner or lose one of Fowler/Vat to get Lindholm signed. All because they gave a bottom pairing defender 4M last year with a NMC. :amazed:

And people complain about our bad contracts. If and when Lindholm is signed, they'll still have to move guys to make it fit, making their team weaker.

I feel like Bieksa might waive his NMC for the expansion draft. Why in the world would Vegas want him? He'd be pretty safe I think.

Jagr nets #750, only 2 ahead of him all time

http://mynhltraderumors.com/jaromir-jagr-rakell-koekkeok-ptos-vegas-rankings-and-weise/2016/10/21/

NHL PR: Florida Panthers Jaromir Jagr scored his 750th NHL goal. Wayne Gretzky (894) and Gordie Howe (801) are the only other players to score over 750 goals in the NHL. Jagr was playing in his 1,633rd career game and is 44-years old. Gretzky scored his 750th goal at 31-years old and in his 1,001st game. Howe scored his 750th goal at 41-years old and in his 1,598th game.

and

Yotes put Jarred Tinordi on waivers

Possibly the least dirty shirt in the hamper thing. Remember they have to take someone from every team.
