And of course, when I turn it off!
Flyer busted for cap circumvention [not the Pronger employment/contract unfortunately]:

I love how the NHL will hide the amount of the fine, yet have no problem sending out a memo in big bold type an hour later stating the Kings are fined 100k because Voynov skated with the team.
Max Domi pisses me off. He's going to fit in well with the rest of the Coyotes.
A half season too late.
Carlyle just got fired
Carlyle got a lot of flack last year when the Leafs took that nose dive in March, losing 12 games and putting them out of the playoffs. And I felt that put a target on his back, and surprised me when they resigned him.
I don't think it's his fault, altogether, he's tried to impress they play better in their own end, even making changes to the system (and Kessel balked and wouldn't adjust, he's basically a very talented 'I" player who doesn't see beyond his own needs and has been a problem for every coach he's played for) Partially that they don't have enough (if any) 2 way players and the rest just won't adapt, won't listen to what he's preaching.
It's easier to sacrifice the coach then 23 players. But Nonis and SHanahan won't end it there. The Leafs have no leadership, that's been visible for some time. The players are too selfish, won't commit to playing team defense and it's a bad mix.
They need to make some big trades and get some better 2 way players who are team playesr with leadership
And Babcock is a guy they will target, since it's not money (Detroit offered him a boatload and he hasn't agreed) he wants more empowerment in player and personnel decisions which Holland won't give up.
He'd be a good fit there, the right kiind of coach and a part of him would love to be the GM that finally got a CUp back up there.
I think they will trade some big names over the summer and restructure
Carlyle is a good coach and will land on his feet.
Agreed. He was playing with a weak roster. They over achieved two years ago, and were forced to paying Kessel and Dion.
I still like dion as a #2 guy who is not in a leadership role. If the cap went crazy high having a top pair of Dion and Drew would be nice. Not sure what I would give up for him though,
And that is a large part of their problem. He shouldn't be wearing the C, it's not a good fit for him.
I wonder if the Wings will try to land him, they're on the hunt. Although he's carrying a big pricetag, that some teams who would be interested couldn't afford.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kessel was traded. The guy could be so much more with some effort but he doesn't care enough and I can't see Shanahan putting up with it.

Carlyle just got fired
Must be kind of a relief for Carlyle. The man tore his hair out trying to get this team to buy in to defense. In several press conferences he looked to be on the verge of banging his head against a wall.
