If we are going to trade the 2015 first rounder, I'd prefer to address the gigantic hole left on the second defensive pairing rather than get a prima donna who's development might have been ruined

He is still a valuable asset and he's also on the worst team in the NHL over the last five or so seasons.

Gaborik - Kopitar - Yakupov.

It's also addition by subtraction because you would be gaining Kopitar's extra cap space along with Williams.

But hasn't he been criticized as soft and a lazy player who doesn't forecheck or backcheck? He would fit in perfectly with the Kings currently, but come playoffs do you think he would be able to handle stronger teams? I realize he's a first overall pick but Richards has more points than him on the fourth line. Now that I think of Richard's salary, I think Richards (who Lombardi can probably convince the morons that run EDM that he "brings more than just scoring") for Yak and a low round pick sounds ideal. (BTW have you seen the Oilers official website? Those pictures on the side of "fans" cheering are hilarious and cheesy as ****.)

Would love to see Tampa Bay or the Islanders make the Finals. 2 teams noone really had as cup contenders who are both just crushing the league, and aren't just on lucky runs either.

I remember how furious people got at me for saying the Vanek trade was good for them last year, because it showed that they were at least trying to win and chase the cup instead of simmering in mediocrity. But people were all "terrible move, squandered assets (that wouldn't see the ice for years anyway), should have kept what they had and keep rebuilding forever."

They do the same this year and make some win now trades at the expense of the future and people now love those trades even though the scenarios are identical

Results orientated thinking is a wonderful thing

If people like money, loading up on Nashville to win the cup is super sweet value right about now. Think they are the 2nd best team in the league behind Chicago

you are smarter than the average bear though. A true Yogi

No idea how they are doing it though, since their entire team is made up of players that make people go "oh, ye I recognise his name, not sure who he is though""

Brendan Morrow plays for the Lightning? WTF!

Leading the team (a team with RadKO Whoopass) in Pims. Ending his career gracefully I see

When you can't skate I guess you just hang onto other players by hitching a ride. Or when that doesn't work just hack the **** out of them.

Dee and I picked the Lightning to make the Cup finals. I picked them last year too.

I have proof in our playoff pool from last year.

I did too. Oops  they would have put on a much better show had Bishop not been hurt imo.

We're starting to see a changing of a guard actually happen now. Potential is turning into reality. The really nice part of the Isles and Lightning pulling that off is that it's not simply their "tank picks" that are making the impact.

I highly doubt DL makes any moves until the deadline is approaching.

Agree. We have yet to see this team even close to fully healthy, though we know what the issues are. No matter how maddening it is, doubt we see any changes in Jan. We're pretty lucky he's an insanely patient guy.

He's patient, yeah. And he has a hell of a lot more information than any observers have (injuries, personal issues, systems, roles, org depth, scouting reports, budget... on and on). It's fun to try to anticipate moves, or figure out the thinking behind a move, but I don't know that many NHL GMs deserve all the second guessing they get (I understand why they do and that it's part of the job), especially one with Lombardi's record.

The Voynov thing has really put the club in a tough spot. It's easy to say, "no excuses, they're pros; deal with it." And they are, about as well as one might expect.

I believe I picked us to lose in 7.

6 months later, Rangers fans are still waiting for Dwight King's goal to be overturned.
