I enjoy the fan vote for all star when it involves troll votes like Girgensons.

5 serious votes for the Hawks players is less cool though. Don't understand how the system isn't abused to get some defensive defencemen, or backup goalies into the game

Odd stat from lst night's NHL action, 7 games had teams that scored 5 straight goals.

‏@TSNRyanRishaug Draisaitl assigned to The CHL, trade certainly coming in next day or two.

I wonder who the Oils move now, Eberle , Petry or ??

That guy from TSN was not really clear. I think he meant trading Draisaitl from Prince Albert to Kelowna; the Rockets are first in the WHL and looking to win the Memorial Cup while the Raiders are probably not even going to make playoffs.

If you weren't referring to Twitter, I'm sure they want to acquire someone so Benoit Pouliot isn't on their second line. But then again they are not looking to do well anyways so maybe move Eberle and Petry for some draft picks. This was a good decision by the Oilers so maybe they should follow it up with some more good decisions.

So the Bruins lost 2-1 today to the Canes. They went 17 min w/o a shot on goal and have become a ship that is springing leaks. 9th in the con. right now with Fla 1 pt back w
3 games at hand. Losing Boychuck (bad trade) hurt them but they can't seem to generate offense and have no punch or pulse in most games
WHat happened to the Bruins?

Still stick by my prediction - they aren't making the playoffs.

I don't think they are either, they've been straddling that 8th/9th position all year. ANd I get that their window opened in 2010 and five years is about normal, given the age of their core, but still, they used to have an identity and this year, it's gone. Odd that so fast so much would disappear.

Trading Seguin is probably also part of the problem. Not only is Eriksson older, he seems to have declined since 2012. Marchand is doing okay while Lucic is on pace for 12 goals and seems to be preparing himself to fight rather than score.

Sucks for their fans, seeing a SC contender become a non playoff team in one season.

Losing Seguin didn't do Boston in though. I really think losing Boychuk hurt them more.

I still don't understand that trade. Chara is slowing down and last year when they lost Seidenberg, Boychuk was solid and really played well and esp in the playoffs wa svery good (he usually is)
Given Chara's age, it would have made sense to retain him, or last summer knowing his contract was up this year, if they thought the team had another Cup run in them, keep him thru this year.
Trading him when they did, still doesn't make sense, huge loss in the lockeroom too, good leader and very very respected and liked teammate.

Exactly. It's having the impact losing Voynov is having on the Kings, frankly. Bruins didn't deal from a position of strength in that trade.

Done.

If the Oil chose to move on from Yak rather than wait to develop him properly... I think the three big pieces that would need coming back are:

-1st round pick '15 (doesnt matter how late)
-Cap dump (prefer a C)
-A goalie OR RD prospect

...

LAK- 1st '15, Richards, Ebert

Preds let the Ducks tie it up late
Ducks 15 th Ot this season

Age.

Nail's worth that much? I was thinking like a fourth round pick for someone who has 9 pts in 39 games and like minus 10000 and for wasting Dean's time. Does Yak have something special that I don't know of?

LOL

If anyone could get a 4th round pick for wasting time on the phone, it's Dean Lombardi.

He is still a valuable asset and he's also on the worst team in the NHL over the last five or so seasons.

Gaborik - Kopitar - Yakupov.

It's also addition by subtraction because you would be gaining Kopitar's extra cap space along with Williams.
