While I think the Oilers should rebuild the rebuild, I'm not sure draft picks are the return they should be looking for unless they then use those for trade bait. Their scouting department is 100% pure garbage

Their scouting is garbage, but most importantly their lack of development is even worse. Their development consists of, "First round pick? Yup, NHL it is!".

So what you're saying is we need to keep Futa for as long as possible even if it means locking him in a castle?

This kind of **** scares me from playing hockey sometimes.

Hope he recovers without problems.

He really dodged a HUGE bullet, by the grace of God, and a scant millimeter the tendon was not affected. He spoke postgame and said he 'panicked badly' when it happened. The cut was tended to and he might be able to play tomorrow.

Video of the incident, which really looked awful, it looked like he was done for the year

And he does wear the Kevlar socks, which saved his leg

I haven't seen them make the type of balls deals that Lombardi was making when he took over the GM job in LA. Like when he acquired Jack Johnson, or trading Demitra for O'Sullivan and the 1st that turned into Trevor Lewis. He also got a handsome return when he dealt Mattias Norstrom at the trade deadline to the Dallas Stars. And the mid-round pick he received from the Flames when he sent Craig Conroy there turned into Dwight King.

That's another thing the Oilers suck hard at. They can't find any decent prospects outside of the first round.

Exactly. Plus Lombardi focused on shoring up the defense first. The Oilers seem intent on taking forwards with all the high picks with the exception of Darnell Nurse.

Since 2006, they have only drafted 2 D with their 1st round picks...Petry and Nurse. If you look at the picks even after guys like Hall, Yakupov, etc. you wonder where the heck these guys went...No 2nd round pick has played more than 90 NHL games besides Anton Lander in the past 7-8 years. You have to go back to 2007 to Riley Nash.

Compare that to the Kings, who have had non first round picks like Toffoli, Clifford, Nolan, Voynov, Loktionov, Simmonds, King, and Martinez play over 90 games since 2007. Vey and Deslauries will break that mark this season too.

Good to hear.

And LOL at every moron online that says "Why isn't he wearing special socks?!?" These are the best athletes on the planet that use the best equipment available.

The NYI are a very good balanced team, the moves they made on Defense have paid off in spades.

Getting Thomas Hickey on waivers has paid off big time.

Jamal Mayer: "Shattenkirt reminds me of a younger Duncan Keith...."

Makes perfect sense. Kings complete the metropolitan triangle sweep in the SCF in 2015.

It's gonna happen. It would be my luck. Tickets prices have gone up for when the Kings come to town to play the Devils and Rangers (Rags were always high). Devils tickets use to be so cheap. :( And they we're actually good back then! I did get sweet seats to the game verse the Islanders in March for $50. God bless that dump.

I was actually at the Ducks game tonight, fun tilt. Just like the Kings seem to get the opposite of every bounce, though, the Ducks seem to have everything fall into place  but lots of that is hard work and speed to make your own luck, like we see the Kings do when they really bear down. Tarasenko is even MORE terrifying live if that's possible.

Yet a lot of them inexplicably don't for various reasons, mostly comfort. Luckily Giroux was.

:handclap:

The Ducks are a good team, I don't know why people consistently say "they are lucky ETC".

Even with their advanced stats, and shooting % coming back to normal last year, they won the Conference by a healthy margin.

Getting Kesler was a good move by the Ducks.

Oh no, for sure I agree. I wasn't even suggesting they're 'lucky' by advanced stats measures and about halfway through last year it became apparent to me and my lil project that the way they're composed and the way they play can 'fudge' the advanced stats in such a way that they look unsustainable but truly are sustainable. Just laughing at what feels like the difference between bounces for that team and our team (lately). And I know it's perception and a bias on my part, just fooling around.

Islanders lead the NHL with 26 wins, including 20 ROW.

You read that right. The Islanders.

The Isles are a very good team, why wouldn't they lead the league in wins??? Getting Leddy, Boychuck and Halak and adding some scoring support has taken a huge weight of Taveres , he doesn't have to carry them anymore. And they have some good stock in the minors coming up as well.
IT's why the Pens are amping up, but they'll need to get a D, I think the ISles D is better but it will make a good playoff series.

And trading Boychuck was a huge mistake for Boston, esp since chara is slipping and how good Boychuck was last year when Seidenberg was out and esp[ in the playoffs, he's always good. Given the teams in the division that got better , are playing better, I don't see the Bruins making the playoffs and their window, which opened in 2010 is closing fast.

Nope. As much as I like the Isles and they're a very good team, adding Perron gives the pens the edge, when healthy , that might be the best top 6 in the EC.
I think the Bolts are the best team in the East and they do have the talent , depth, goaltending and d to get to the SCF.

Which is why the Habs are hot for Yandle and almost made a deal a couple days back, rumor has it. That Bergevin is going to do whatever it takes to land Yandle. They are going to make whatever moves they can to amp up, and also are looking for a center, according to the media up there.
If they land Yandle, that would make a big difference.

“CBS SPORTS: The 2.3 TV rating for the 2015 NHL Winter Classic between the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals was the lowest in the history of the event.”

Funny thing was it was a pretty good game. But the fact they keep rotating the same handful of venues and don't broaden the horizon for host cities is having an impact. Maybe this will cause them to look a bit further for 2017
Also, another idea might be to switch it from Jan 1, conceding that to college football and instead, take the All Star game outdoors.

OT- The pens/bolts game last night was delayed in the 1st period because Ref Mike Leggo threw up in the Pens defensive zone. That's a first for me as a hockey fan.

The Ducks Defense is slightly worse this year than last (so far). They had some injuries early, might have effected them.

But since 2012-13, the Ducks have been around in the Top Ten of Defensive teams. So it's not that bad.
