National pride behind the last Canadian team is something that the Canadian media seems to drum up every year, but from my experiences online and offline its not really close to reality.

I got give a flying f*** about any Canadian team being in the semis. I'd rather see the Islanders win it all.

I like the Canes a lot, but they just seem to be lack the "It" factor. They lost because the Lightning are just too good, but they just seem to be missing something a little extra, maybe its a solid #1 goalie that they can comfortably rely on night in and night out, but I don't know.

Tuuka Rask is a UFA this summer. Might be a good fit there to pair him with Ned. Currently 34 so term is the thing here. If they could get him for 2-years, it could be a significant add.

Boston really like Sewayman and they also have Vladar. Wonder if they are ready to turn the keys over to them.

I look at it as the Canadians pulling pregame hijinks and sneaking into the Kings locker room without permission.

Lots of conflicting stories on that one. Who knows.. Here are a few from the main board..

1993 Cup Final/Game 2/Marty McSorley Illegal Stick

"Both teams' stick racks were supposedly moved into the Canadiens' dressing room during intermission to prevent fans from grabbing them in the hallway on their way to their seats. They couldn't put the stick racks in the away team dressing room in that building because it was too far away."

"I'm currently reading Kelly Hrudey's book, and he said that a policeman walked up to Luc Robitaille years later and apologized. When Robitaille asked him why, he said because he was working security that night and was guarding the locker room. Someone from the Canadiens approached him and asked him to look the other way for a minute."

I was obviously pissed at the time. Now I look back and laugh at it. I mean, the Kings still earned a split and were headed back home but going to OT versus Montreal that year was a death sentence. Who knows what happens if they win one out of those three OT games. Oh well.

I missed that series (I was in South Carolina for basic training at the time) but I’ve always been surprised at how much whining there is about McSorley’s stick. The Kings had every opportunity to bounce back from that call and they choked. Couldn’t close the deal in OT, but all I hear about is McSorley. It always bugs me when fans focus on sticks and calls by the refs, but they leave out the part where the team totally folded.

You can pin game 2 on Marty and equipment managers I guess, but the series was 1-1 headed back to LA at that point. The team choked, period. The rest is all just whining.

I still can't believe the Avs blew that game last night. What a shit pass by Landeskog when they were up 2-1. And Compher shooting right at Fleury at the start of OT. Fail. Fail. Fail.

Going back to LA with a 2-0 series lead would’ve been huge and probably would’ve put it away in 6, maybe 7. That Cup final was a lot closer than what the series result ended up being and that’s why the stick penalty was so pivotal.

Can’t believe the Avalanche are going to make me watch a VGK/Montreal series. Ugh.

Gotta say if the Avs come back from last night and win the series with Vegas in seven games, it will show a ton of character.

We praise the Bruins, but a lot of Bruins fan sounds like we do, or have in the past, about the Kings.

Ever since Tavares bolted, the Isles have been far more successful in the playoffs than the Maple Leafs. What a blessing in disguise did that decision turn out to be for the Islanders. I guess Lou Lamoriello still knows something about team building.

Seeing Avs fans tear into Graves for not being able to receive a truly terrible pass (Landeskog’s) is cringeworthy
