That's a good deal for the Flames. I like Hanafin, he's only 21 and I saw quite a bit of him because I watch the Canes.

Flame's GM does it again. His track record on re-signing players is pretty impressive. Trades and UFA is a mix bag, but re-signing players he has been really strong at.

Yes, they are. I liked the Lindholm deal as well. Good player and young, still with growing potential. Adding to a nice young top 6 group. PUtting him with Monahan and Johnny G is a good young scoring line. Add maybe SPencer Foo to the 2nd line with Tzachuk and that's a plus.

I am curious what he fares with Tzachuk.

And what to do with Sam Bennett. For a player drafted that high, he's not developed as I thought he would. NOt sure if he has top 6 in him, or if he needs a new city/new start to get there.

I think the 2nd line for the flames will be Tkachuk-Backlund-Neal/Lindhom (other playing top line). The flames have a lot of forward depth (I like Jankowski) and because of it I don't see Foo up this year.

Next year with Bennett and Tkachuk needing new deals things could get tight for Calgary. Wouldn't surprise me to see Bennett dealt next offseason.

Only hole I see is they are reliance on an old Mike Smith. I think now that Hanifan is done the flames should go try and get Mason or Lehtonen on a 1 year show me deal in the neighborhood of $1m.

It's a really good deal for Hanifin who is only going to grow imo.

Still not going to toot Treliving's horn because it's easy as hell to sign a captive audience. When these guys achieve something/go to UFA and he still does it, give me a ring. Otherwise, this is still the same GM who signed Brouwer with an NTC and bought him out halfway thru the deal. I'm not any more impressed with him than I am with any other losing GM with a young team.

The amount they found is like a pinch of salt in an Olympic sized pool.
Some Lcms/ms tests can measure Pico grams per liter.
Now I don’t know what or how the test was run, but 1,000,000,000,000 picograms are in one gram

7 billionths of a milligram/mL ?

That's a ridiculously small amount. I'm no expert, but this doesn't warrant a suspension IMO.

So the question I have is will the amount decrease over time? Meaning if he took a PED 3 months ago and was tested 3 months ago the results would be higher? I woud'nt think that the results would be at a high level one day and then gone on the next day. I would think that the level drops over time (Halflife?).

Perhaps someone knows how that works.

it's largely irrelevant how much. it's there, and it got there somehow. wouldn't be surprised if this coincided with a nice boost in his test/epitest ratio. he f***ed up. got caught late in a cycle. your body metabolizes shit over time, he was probably a few days out from being "clean"

weird how it coincides conveniently with a career season and massive playtime boost. dude can go get f***ed for all i care. what a sham.

i mean 3 months is a long time frame for the kind of stuff a professional athlete is taking but yes. pretty much.

I love those two thoughts together. Lol.
I'm not an expert, but I know trace amounts can result from contamination. I've seen criminal cases where lab results get contaminated.

I'm sure the NHL is within its rights according to the terms of their agreement with the CBA, but I think the suspension is draconian. I'd like to think there's other ways they could have handled this.

I'm not often very tinfoily but that was my first thought wrt the entire team.

Guys who played outside roles all suddenly playing high-paced, fast, tenacious 20 minute games for twice the number of games and minutes they're used to plus a full playoffs? The optics...

I've also been daydrinking in the heat all day so

I mean this is all announced AFTER they appealed and used their independent research team etc.

I'm no expert either, but with two weeks notice in the offseason, he couldn't get his body completely clean. As we're both non-experts, I'm reading that a different way. What did that look like closer to the postseason?

It also begs the question of 'whats the substance' but we'll rightfully never know.

b-b-b-but they're outcasts that banded together with a common goal! the power of true love brought them to the pinnacle!

I might also be the only one who perked up at the "I only took what the team gave me" defense. TEST THEM ALL

Yep. He claims that there are such small amounts that it shouldn't warrant a suspension. I'd love to see the results of other athletes who've been caught and see what their results are.
