Healthy Gibson is absolutely worth that and maybe then some. I'm sure he took some AAV down for some security/term with his injury concerns, which is a gamble for the Ducks. One of the best when he's healthy.

I really think Carolina would have held onto him and moved him at the deadline, but they made the mistake of giving him a NMC that kicked in late in his contract. Too much risk there, they had to get what they could.

The cap has affected the UFA to be more than any other type of player for sure. As important as star players are, a player who can get you 40-50 points on an ELC is one of the most valuable assets a team can own nowadays.

The NTC/NMC had more of an issue here I think. It's already a depreciated asset and one that would be worth more with the desperation of the deadline imo, but when the player controls the destination, the value is commensurate with how tied the GMs hands are (i.e. no bidding war).

One of the reasons our GMs have been under-the-radar awesome is the relative lack of them. Compare that to oft-exalted TBL, whose entire d-core minus a #6 has NMC/NTCs.

Yeah, the number of NMCs handed out in the NHL is ridiculous. I don't see the players getting them giving up much in the way of years or cap hit to get them.

For anyone who is not a follower of this channel, it is quite good, covers the game in all areas.

This is how he has the Pacific playing out:

1. SJ (he let it slip in an earlier video)
2. VGK (process of elimination)
3. LA
4. CGY
5. EDM
6. ANA
7. AZ
8. VAN (process of elimination)

Kopitar is an antique, Quick is slowing down, Kovie will suck,...Doughty will wish he didn't sign long term and joined Tavares in coming 'home'

....lol

I'm not a positive Pete and I'm looking forward to this season. This team seems to do better when nobody is paying attention to them or there is negative press. They needed to add goals, they added goals. The core is still there and should be well rested and ready to play. No players re habbing injuries during the summer, that's a good recipe for success.

It’s all a matter of Kovalchuk staying healthy. It’s not likely Kopitar repeats his Hart nominated season, but he should still be good for 70+.

If Kovalchuk stays healthy, he will contribute, and the team will be good. Simple as that.

Agree, and no contract distractions, new blood added, etc.

Brown's shoulder concerns but otherwise yes

Nice little summer feud going on between Johansen and Kesler.

Brief history of Ryan Kesler-Ryan Johansen feud

Mic’d up during that series, Johansen was caught telling Kesler, “You’re a f——— loser, nobody likes you.” So you can see why they won’t be sharing pops at the cottage anytime soon.

I love stuff like this. Need more personalities in the game. I for sure will be tuning in to game 1 between these two (if Kesler would even be healthy for it).
