Just hope it's Colorado, not Vegas.

I don't know I get the concern with Vegas being in the same division but Colorado is going to be a very good team soon with or without EK. They have a plethora of picks (thanks to Ottawa already), they have depth both at forward and D and good goaltending for a the foreseeable future (assuming Grubauer pans out)

Vegas made a huge plunder giving up so much for Tatar, inked Statsny for too much, lost Neal and Perron, are already a regression candidate if they had those guys coming back, and have a starting goalie who is a UFA 33 and often injured.

The current landscape of the Pacific I am more worried about Calgary, San Jose and Edmonton taking up play off spots than Vegas. Arizona is a team on the rise who has made some good moves, Vancouver is a dumpster fire, and Anaheim I could see free falling.

The whole point is that you can make the playoffs without worrying about Colorado, just finish in the Top 3, Vegas is in your path when it comes to doing that.

I've made a number of posts about how Vegas could be in real bad shape cap-wise as soon as the 19-20 season, were they to acquire and extend Karlsson (and possibly Bobby Ryan), along with having to extend MAF, Schmidt and their own RFAs.

That being said, for now the Kings window is 3 years, and i'd rather not have their be yet another road block to even making the playoffs, let alone advancing.

completely get that. I could also see a situation where the Avalanche and Kings are competing for a wild card spot, or maybe Colorado pushes another central team into competing for a wild card. Even with EK as a knight I may like the way the Kings stack up against them better then some central team. Then again I said that going into round 1.

Fair enough.

I wonder if Edmonton would go all out to land Karlsson, and also land Bobby Ryan’s contract with Ottawa taking on Lucic. Lucic, Klefbom, Puljujarvi, Bear and a 1st for Karlsson and Ryan.

Just what the heck are the isles doing? Taking on that cap dump for free. From the Leafs no less.

Leafs paid Martin's bonus on July 1st apparently. Islanders are on the hook for 750K this year and 1.75 mil next year. Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck was a good 4th line a couple years ago.

Imagine if he ends up in the Pacific. It will always be a Karlsson vs Doughty showdown.

I hope he does, then he can watch the best defenseman in the NHL up close in person more often.

Karlsson will not age well and whatever deal he signs, reportedly looking for similar numbers to Drew, he will not be as valuable near the close of his deal as Drew will.

Value for money, it’s Drew hands down for me.

Dumb move by Leafs - they are soft as pillows and now just added Tavares. I'm sure every team next year will just mark on the board, run Tavares, run Mathews and no one will do anything.

Yeah, four more years of Bobby Ryan at $7.25M per season doesn't sound like a great idea just to land Karlsson.

The Sens are going nowhere and have to atleast reach the floor seeing as Melnyk will be tightening the purse strings.

Might as well hold Ryan. Maybe he can find his game by some small miracle and you can try to shed him in his 3rd or final year of the deal.

To allegedly ask teams to take him on as part of a Karlsson deal is naive on the part of Dorion. Maximize the return on EK, don’t waste the asset by including mandatory junk to have to take on.

There aren't many broad street bullies around anymore. Who is running players these days? Plus it's a Babcock team. How many protectors has he had on a roster of any team he's coached?

Who does TB have? Stamkos led their team in PIM's. Who is Boston throwing out there to run at the Leafs? Marchand is too important, and he can't even lick a guy anymore. Chara, but nobody dares fight Chara, even if he plays dirty. The Caps have Wilson. Malkin led the Penguins in PIM's. He's dirty, but he's not running guys. Gudas in Philly. Nobody in NJ. Nobody in Columbus. You can go down the list, and the names are few and far between. This ain't the 90's anymore.
