The best part is San Jose clearing space for Tavares only to have him sign elsewhere.

I mean....they still have cap space and aren't carrying Boedker's contract so really.....it's still a win for them. Also, they managed to get an even better deal for Hoffman.

I agree, but what are they going to do with it?

Doug Wilson made a bunch of great moves to create Tavares space but now he's left holding nothing.

I say make a trade for Karlsson, if I was SJ. Screw the future, just load the f*** up for this year and go all out. If you snag Bobby Ryan too, maybe he's a forward who produces on the Sharks.

Oilers are loving ex-Kings. Lucic, Gravel, Reider. I'm sure all those players will work out well for them.

Sloppy seconds via the Kings.

The Oilers are like your buddy at a bar, they’re your wingman and when you take the hot chick back home, they are left with her ugly friend to hammer. They don’t mind settling for whatever they can get their hands on.

I don’t know why we are being so hard on the sharks. They did the same thing we did, lock up another One long-term in culture as well as extended cane which would be the same as us locking up Doughty and acquiring Kovy.

What they also did was clear up some dead Space and acquire some pics. I know we love to hate on them but their off-season has been just as good as ours if not better thus far and they put themselves in a position to go after somebody like Panarin.

Trust me I hate the Sharks just as much as the rest of you and I am elated they did not get Tavares but I can’t crap on them too muchFor making a pitch on one of the best players in the league. At least they tried

All I know right now is I am glad I’m not fans in Montreal, Ottawa or on the island.

Yeah, they didn't have an offensive problem, it was all defense. Though now you get to sign a premium center without giving up assets, so NOW they CAN give up premium assets for a premium defenseman.
Exactly. One of the best players in the game wants to sign with you while giving you a slight discount? There's no reason not to do it, especially when there weren't any defensemen worth signing.

Lotta kinda strange deals out there. I wouldn't call them bad per se, but it seems this years trend is 3-5 year deals to lower cap. I know it's nothing new to trade cap for guaranteed term, just observing a lot of mid range guys doing 3-5 million, 3-5 years.

I like that Hutton signing for Buffalo a lot.

I do too. I think it's a great fit for him. You put Dahlin on that team, and whoever (Skinner?) They get for ROR and that's a step forward. Mittelstadt is going to be (I think) terrific for them, coupled with Eichel, a new du0 of top centers. COnor SHeary should benefit with Eichel as his pivot.
They were better the 2nd half of the season and with stability in net , a blue chip blueliner and changes in the forward group, they'll be much better.

So you're saying I shouldn't go to the Sharks board and start a post with "Kings fan, coming in peace. So about that Tavares signing..."?

Ha ha. Stirring the pot. Please take it easy on those poor fans. They now have to look at horse face for 8 more years. Isn’t that enough pain?

Damn Toronto is going to be crazy good, but good luck signing all your young guns looking for Eichel type deals.

All of their young guns won't be getting 'Eichel' type deals. Nylander (as of a couple weeks ago) was expected to get 6 to 6.5. Earlier this year, I read an article that hinted Marner (via his agent using stats) is looking for 9-10M , which the Leafs won't do. I understand his agents reasoning, using Marner's stats (ppg) that didn't vary even when he played it he bottom 6, that based on that his client deserves Matthews money. But as good as he is, he's a winger. I'd rather give JT that $$ than a winger, even if it is Marner. They have talented wings that put with Matthews or JT will do fine.
If Marner's position doesn't change, they'll trade him for a top defensemen. I'd say they might do that with Kadri as well. He's too good to ride the 3rd line.
JT put up great numbers for most of his career, but now won't always face the top shut down guys, teams will have to decide to use them on Matthews or JT'.

JT made the best decision, he signed (and took less money, Sharks rumored to have upped their offer over the last couple days to 7 yrs/91 M) with the teams he always dreams about playing for and at a great time in their development. Top coach, good front office structure, great prospects, very talented farm system. They will be a legit contender for most of the years under his contract.

And they have some nice good young defensemen, and have the players/prospects to trade for a top d.
