If Richards was on the ice and there was a scrum after the whistle Richards would be first man in. Meanwhile the Captain would be skating to the bench looking over his shoulder. Sucks the way he exited the Kings and the game in general but when he was sound that is the type of player I'd be looking for if I was a GM.

Pinning games five and six on Richards reeks of an agenda, Herb. Playoff games are not won and lost on the back of your fourth line alone. That’s ridiculous.

Games 5-6-7
Chicago 8 ES Goals
LA 4th line on ice for half of them.

Same thing happened in SJ first round when Sutter overused him the first two games.

Not knocking what he did in his career, or with the Kings in 2012 or 2013 when he was an excellent player. By the 2014 playoffs he was done as a functioning NHL player. It was just tough to watch in the defensive zone, like Ran_y Jones.

JVR back in the fold, 5 yrs. 7M Sweet deal by Hexy

Have been a huge fan of his since they drafted him an followed him as a Leaf. He stays healthy, he's a lock for 30 goals or more.
Welcome home JVR

Who says you can never go home?

Wayne Simmonds just smiled at the prospect of getting 8 mil next season.[/QUOTE]

It won't be with the Flyers. If some GM is jackass enough to give him 8M he deserves that misery. He'll be 31 when the new deal starts and he's a power forward, not a skilled forward. His body is breaking down, not uncommon for that type of player. He has to be 15 feet from the net to be effective. He used to be a key on the PP, but was replaced by Nolan Patrick this year. Without that, his effect is even less. He is not a good skater, not fast, average defensively, and not great in board battles. I can't tell you how many times this year he made the line offsides because he couldn't keep up with Konecky. His best talent is skirmishes after the whistle. he's great at that , getting into a players face, chirping to , in and from the bench or penalty box. And teams feed off that. But it's not worth the money he's looking for (last report, a few weeks ago was that he wants 8 years and 6 to 7 M per)
Hexy has been shopping him, if he wasn't go greedy about holding on to his prospects, the deal to the Flames for Hamilton would have gone thru. Still hoping the talks with the Wild for Dumba will come to fruition.

He's part of a group, including Giroux and Voracek that have done nothing in the last 6 years when the money was on the line, to get into the playoffs and esp once here. No impact shifts...
That's where a player earns it, that it factor that makes him a difference maker, game changer in the thick of the playoff battles. And he has not done that.

Ummm.....ok.

He feels like the guy someone is going to regret signing.

He's 32, and giving him a 4 or 5 year deal is a mistake waiting to happen.

Nonsense.

I think he's alluding to the fact that opposing teams had a field day when Richards was on the ice in 2014. He had the worst plus/minus on the whole team (in both the regular season and playoffs). This is despite getting of 57% offensive zone starts.

Free agency news:
Greg Pateryn - Wild 3 yrs at 2.25 per
Statsny- Per Bobby mac - Vegas is the frontrunner
Khudobin- Stars, 2 yrs 2.5 per
Jay Beagle - Canucks 4 yrs at 3M per
Roussel- Canucks 4 yrs 3.25 per
Carter Hutton- Sabres 3 yrs at 3.3 per
Perron- Blues 4 yrs at 4M per
Halak - Boston 2 yrs
Ryan- Flames 3 yrs., 3.125 per
Czarnik- Flames 2 x 1.25
Vanek - Probable to Wings

Love the Beagle signing, very reasonable for what he bring to the bottom 6 and esp in the circle
Good pickup on Hutton by the Sabres, who I think will take a huge step forward this year. And from some of the clips from prospects camp, Dahlin is the real deal. Kid has moves...

The rumor being thrown around on the main board is that Stastny is getting $7M+ (some saying for 7 years), not sure I believe the term, if the price tag is accurate.

EDIT:

At 3 years, $7M per wouldn't shock me.

Starting to look increasingly difficult for VGK to take on Karlsson & Ryan (seemed like this is how they wanted to do it), sign their RFAs and extend MAF & Schmidt.

Geez, Isles fans are losing their minds of the Hickey signing. Has he slipped that much? I would think $2.5m x 4 years wouldn't be that bad, but I haven't really watched him in like a year or two.
