Colton Teubert is 27 and has played in 24 NHL games. It was a horrific pick. To take that guy 13th overall is pathetic. Straight RUBBISH.

Thomas Hickey is a very solid NHL player that has played over 300 games.

Hopefully the Kings First Round picks get better.

I'm not saying he wasn't , but when you considered a guy taken 4th overall vs a guy taken 13th after already taking Doughty its not as bad. It was DL first true draft as GM and he eventually waived the guy before even playing a game as a King. If Teubert had been the only selection, then yes by a mile. They put a lot of time and money into developing Hickey only to waive him. Remember, DL picked him because he thought he had the higher upside.

The Leafs win. Crazy pass by Boyle to the open man for the game winner.

That was a helluva pass by Boyle. He's turning out to be a great deadline pickup for them. To have a veteran center with that size on your 4th line is terrific value for them
And how good has Kapanen been? 2nd NHL game and he pots 2 goals, including an OT GW. Leafs have have an ocean of blue chippers. Having a kid with his skill on the 4th line is huge for them

Leafs are dangerous because they're playing with house money. No pressure on them and it shows, playing very loose. Will be a dangerous team next year when they upgrade they defense. They'll challenge for the division.

Shame they lost Zaitsev, he's been solid for them all yaer. Now they lost Polak too.

But the Air Canada center will be rocking. They got their split and with any luck , could have been up 2-0.

Sorry guys, but this is exactly the type of team Doughty might want to join in two years.

Monahan ties it in Anaheim 2-2. All of the Canadian teams have won in game two of their 1st round series thus far.

I can't stand Teubert and his smug face. I don't hate him as a person, but can't stand the player.

I'm not saying the whole Hickey thing wasn't botched, which it was (hur dur pay yur dues son, as usual), but the Teubert pick was so bad.

No doubt. Later on, even DL admitted he missed on that one by not taking the BPA. I guess when you think about it, Alzner may not have gotten his shot for 3 years in our system . He played right away in Wash.

Dean had a tendency of overthinking things. He did so with Hickey and again with Teubert. And they were clearly not the best players available.

I actually have less of a problem with Lewis going ahead of Giroux than I do with the Hickey and Teubert selections. What's funny is that Philly went into the 2006 draft with Lewis being the guy they wanted. Dean dealt Demitra to get him. Too bad they didn't get his linemate, Kyle Okposo.

I'd rather reach for Hickey's than waste a top 5 pick on Alzner type players every year. When you have top pick's you have to draft difference makers. "Character guys" and "Safe picks" are for later picks, not franchise changing picks.

This is a list of the players who made $7M or more playing in the NHL this season. What percentage of these players were worth it? Yet every time a team signs one of these deals their fans say, "Nothing else to do, but give the guy what he wanted." Time to stop paying for past performance.

I wonder if the EK we see today wouldve been the same one in the Kings system. Terry Murray's system may have killed the offense instinct right out of him.

That's why I'm always ok with the Kings not picking EK. I think he would've had the creativity beaten out of him or they never would've thought he was ready defense wise and he would've rot in the minors or traded.

Flames are ****ing useless. Gonna get smoked again and their fanbase's ego will only grow. Meanwhile, all 2,500 Ducks fans will be celebrating.

Teams have to spend at least a certain amount, and on top of that, if you're at the bottom of the league in spending, people ask what's up. Who is this Cap Space guy? Is he good? Why is there cap space left over? Dumpster diving! Stop paying for past performance, but don't be cheap. Every team wants the productive young player on a great contract, but don't give up too much to get that guy, because you need depth too.

No GM wants to be the one standing after the music stops. If there wasn't a mad rush on July 1st, and GM's could all take their time into the middle of August, and agents were cool with that, then maybe you wouldn't see the bad deals. If you don't play that game though, quickly and early, you don't get the player, and then your fans start asking those questions again.

You're expecting too much of GM's. They can't collude. If they're not out there bidding on free agents, something would be off.

Wild down 0-3 in their series.
Blackhawks down 0-2(shutout both games at home) in their series.
Flames down 0-2 in their series.

It's funny watching Atkinson. He is exactly the type of player the Kings desperately need, and a player that the Kings would never have considered the past decade.

Looking forward to being more skilled.

Must say, pretty impressed with how Columbus responded after the Guentzel goal to make it 1-1. I think everyone knew Columbus was going to come out flying, and they scored :11 into the game and then gave it right back. I think a team like SJ or Washington would have deflated along with the crowd.

Quite the find in the 6th round. Overlooked due to his size, despite being a legit goal scorer at every level he's played in. But you're right, he'd never succeed in LA due to who was in charge of the team.

I knew the Flames would get owned, it's inevitable. Hope the Ducks get their beating in round 2.
Congrats to BB on being a regular season winner. Everyone saw it coming except wild fans.

Great use of jif! Haven't seen it in a long time.

Wow, Boudreau just buried himself with that quote, hilarious.

Nice to see the smoke and mirrors Wild get their reckoning after all the smugness. It's almost as if an entire line shooting 20% and a goalie hovering .950 while getting demolished in so many metrics was a sign.
