Umm, you might want to check the record again...what makes you say they were so good post-carter?

Could it be the Kings starting February with 3 wins and 8 losses, and scoring only zero or one goal in 7 of those losses.

Following the Carter trade, the Kings go on a 12-6 run from late February through the end of March solidifying a playoff berth. During that stretch of 18 games the Kings are shutout only once, and held to a single goal only once.

I think Carter made a difference.

The more I think about the Pierre McGuire interview, the more I think it may be someone else.

very big name player
very high cap hit
1st round pick going to vegas so they would take him
make vegas better than people think

I think Pierre let too much info slip. The player has to be on a contender or a team that thinks it's a contender. The team has to have cap issues. He's an older guy not on Pittsburgh or Nashville since those teams are still playing and a deal like this from what I read can only be made once the team's season is over.

Not on AZ or a team with cap space either since it's a cap dump. Not Ovechkin since the team is also giving up a pick and ovechkin would get assets in return.

I thought about it more and Perry is young enough and produces enough to get assets back and not require a 1st to vegas. Brown and Gaborik don't fit the "very big name player" that would make vegas better than people think. They could still go but they don't fit the interview.

While it could still be Perry, I'm now leaning towards Lundqvist. Pierre's comments about goaltending pushed me in this direction. And the Rangers have cap issues and have Raanta for $1 million and need the space to sign Shattenkirk. I think Lundqvist would waive his NMC if he was told he would be the back up to Raanta.

Ha ha, I re listened to Pierre again and he also mentioned about how strong Vegas is goaltending would be and I also thought that Lundqvist might be an option. Would that not be fanfare suicide by the Rangers however?

Fans rarely know best.

Interesting line by Pierre.

Rumors of discontent in Anaheim- possibly Perry?
Would The Kings want out of Kopitars contract?

I cannot see it being a younger player as there would be no reason for that team to give up a high draft pick.

Who knows with Pierre, it could be something simple like Dustin Brown, something interesting like Eberle, or maybe somebody right off the charts like Yandle in Florida.

I am sure the next month will be a very interesting time.

I mentioned this a while ago but there's someone on LAKI that claims to know someone very close to Perry who says Perry will not be back on Anaheim next season. Too much discontent between Perry, his teammates, and the organization.

Just reporting what I read, don't shoot the messenger. FYI, this guy claims to be really good friends with Tyler Johnson (says they regularly hangout in the summer) and knows many other NHL/hockey players. He also somehow had a picture of Perry partying at an apartment in the OC area during the 2nd round. So maybe the guy does know Perry somehow.

Edit: Could just be my biased eyes but it did look to me like Perry didn't give a **** most of the time he was playing.

I don't see it as anyone other than Perry or Lundqvist. No one else comes to mind. Whoever it is, we will find out in 2 weeks when the protected list becomes public.

Per Friedman during the 2nd intermission on CBC, Kings reportedly interested in Evander Kane. Sabres willing to part with him. Speculate away.

I initially thought Ovechkin, too. But the caps wouldn't need to add a first in a good draft to dump him.

I don't think the NMC is too much an issue with Perry. If what a few posters are saying is true, then there are clubhouse issues with Perry enough so that he may want to leave.

Will be an interesting summer. That I do know.

Ducks fan here, so don't burn me yet! While you guys bring up an interesting choice in it being Perry, there's some real life stuff that I think would make it hard for him to waive his NMC. He just got married and is having his first child, don't see why he would be willing to uproot his family and life like that when he doesn't have to.

Unless he really hates playing under Carlyle, I don't see it being Perry (even though dumping that contract would be nice).

Hi dracom. Thanks for the comment. I don't follow the ducks that much despite being a rival.

I'm leaning more towards it being Lundqvist. Perry would be a second choice though.

Glad to see Nashville win Game 3 and make the series interesting.

Get it even in Game 4 and let's have some real fun with this.

Yeah, it was a well earned win. Pens gooning it up at the end was pretty weak. PK said Crosby told him his breath stank!

Yeah, Pittsburgh reminded me a lot of the Ducks with that crap.

It would have been great to see the 2012-2014 Kings get under the Pens' skin in a SCF. Too bad it didn't happen.

Impressed with Suban's post game interview.

Just out of curiosity I went over to Stubhub to check out what prices are for Game 4.

The cheapest seat was $1,100. What looks like the equivalent of a PR seat at Staples is going for $1,900, and there is only one on sale. Very interesting. I paid $1,300 for a ticket to Game 5 against the Rangers in 2014.

Nashville is definitely excited about hockey. Good for the Preds, and good for the NHL.

Kings would be up 3-0 by now.

Mattias Ekholm - 27 years old, signed for 5 more years at a cap hit of $3.75M.

This might be the best contract in the NHL.

Poor Pittsburgh, everyone is against them and they don't get any calls. Meanwhile they act like complete *******s out on the ice. Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, etc all acting like CLOWNS. Malkin is a ****ing child in an adults body.

Muzzin - 1 year older, same amount of time in the NHL, 2 years shorter for $250,000 more per.

Absolutely! People always uses "barley made it" "8th seed" , "didn't have to play anyone" as some kind of reason, without doing their homework. Fact are facts and going up 3-0 in every series isn't a fluke, just like ending up 16-4 isn't.

Not to mention 10 straight ROAD wins.......

Yeah, that crosscheck to the ribs had a very Corey Perry feel to it near the end of the game. The refs lost control once it was 5-1, and should've started throwing more guys out other that the 4th liners. I'm glad the Preds are now in the heads of the Pens.

I was at dinner with some family and was watching the game out of the corner of my eye, but the TV was blocked by some decorative mesh. I could barely see it, but could make out what was going on. I thought when Nashville scored their third goal is was the waning minutes of the third. I was pumped, but kinda confused why Murray was still in net. 15 minutes later I see a game playing and figured it was the highlights. About 30 minutes later I see 5-1, LOL! I didn't know what the hell was going on, but I was happy regardless.

It was also hilarious seeing 87 and 71 in the penalty box together. Two crybabies.

Something that makes me admire those 2012-2014 teams even more is how tough they played without the shenanigans. Yeah they scrummed it up, but they played hard, never(?) full-on dirty, and never threw temper tantrums at the end of games when they were getting embarrassed. I mean, they had a prime opportunity when the Sharks were trucking them, but instead they sacked up and brought it next game. Only thing I can think of is when Regehr and Burns started to go at the end of the game and that was because Burns was clowning around when time ran short. We were experts at pissing other teams off with hard, clean (but maybe on the edge) play, and I know it drives us crazy when they walk away from dirty stuff now, but that's because we DROVE teams to madness back then.

Agree, the Kings had some vicious open ice hitters in guys like Brown, Richards, and Stoll. Then along the boards they had mashers like King, Nolan, Mitchell, Greene, and even Voynov.

And I am sure I may have left a few guys out.

The Kings didn't goon it up when they received hard, clean hits. They simply looked for the next opportunity to make the other team pay with a hit of their own. The St. Louis series of 2012 and 2013 were examples of two teams just knocking the crap out of each other.
