I'm not even gonna bother reading that Kings vs Pens thread on the main board. It'd just **** me the **** off knowing that haters (Ducks and Sharks fans) will just chime in and say we would've gotten our ***** whooped. Just another way to discredit our success. To anyone who's read that thread, can you confirm that I'm right?

I think it's mostly Pittsburgh fans. Or, one or two Pittsburgh fans in that thread, and they're all riding high these days anyway. Nobody will ever convince either side. That's a topic that should be discussed by non-Kings and non-Penguins fans.

Too many what if's. Letang is hurt, Doughty wasn't. Well, the Penguins have both Crosby and Malkin, and the Kings don't. The Kings didn't face the greatest teams in 2012. Ok, the Pens didn't have to go through even one team that has won a Cup recently, other than back in 2009. The Kings took out the Hawks when their 2nd center was Handzus. The Pens took out the Caps, who rarely do as well as they should on paper come playoff time, whether it's against Pittsburgh or not.

It's one of those sports debates that has no actual answer. Would Ovechkin score 120 goals in 1985? Would Gretzky be able to get 150 points in today's NHL? Who the hell knows.

It's kind of funny that Hawks fans are the ones defending the Kings. They know how good the Kings were those years, especially in 2014.

Some Ducks fans as well.

Every team in the Pacific knows what it was like back then, it's like a badge of honor. The division was a nightmare.

If the Pens repeat, I will always and forever say they got it easy. With their injuries, against better teams, they should have been eliminated a long time ago. Their Path:

-An overachieving Columbus team
-Washington, which i will give props for
-An over achieving Ottawa team playing trap
-An injured Nashville missing their #1 Center, while the Pens have two #1 Centers

Lucky Lucky Lucky Lucky Lucky. I will say that Johnston has put together a system that really works for the team that Rutherford built and Crosby/Malkin have always thrived under: offensively creative and fast. But this Penguins team would lose to:

Last year's team
The Sharks Last year
The Lightning last year and the year before
Both the King's cups teams
Any Chicago cup winning team

All of those teams were much more complete.

I'm also salty because my best friend is the biggest ****ing Pens bandwagoner and homer of all time. If they repeat, I will never hear the end of it. Just to give you a taste of his lunacy, he once told me Brooks Orpik was the best defensemen defensively in the NHL

Eh, props to the pens.

An old gm most lost faith in.
A number one goalie that had to take back seat to a better younger goalie.
Unheralded rookies playing big roles.
A star defender who is out of the line up frequently.
A motley crew of cast offs (including Kessel)
Decent trades Holmqvist, Bonino, Hagelin, Schultz, Daley, Kessel.

They deserve what they have accomplished. Dislike the whining tho.

It would not surprise me if the Preds win the next four games. If they tie the series, the Pens will implode & end up beating themselves. BOOK IT!!!!!!!!

You can't really say "an injured Nashville team without their #1 center" when Pittsburgh is also missing their #1 d-man. Their defense does not look good at all. They would've walked through all 4 teams much more easily if they had Letang.

The Pens are only up 2-0 because Murray has played very well and Rinne has sucked donkey ****s.

So what? That's part of the game.

NEWS: We have signed forward Tomas Hyka to an entry level contract
.

Good for him, still annoyed that Holmgren screwed up and the Flyers missed the chance to sign him. After stops in Philly and LA farms, he might get a shot.

And because the Preds are very weak down the middle. THey had 1 good line and when RJ went down, the line died. They'll never win until they get a top legit #2 center and shove Fisher down in the bottom 9.
You don't have strong center depth, you don't have much of shot, esp against a team that does.

Regarding the thread on the main board. I'll take the 2012 Kings with Kopitar, Richards, and Stoll down the middle with Carter and Brown lighting it up on the wings over the Pens, easily.

Add to the mix the defense and goaltending from that club and the most it goes is six games.

The 2012 team is and always will be criminally underrated. That team was a juggernaut, and right up there with 2007 Ducks, 2008 Wings, and 2010 Hawks as one of the best post-lockout.

Interesting line by Pierre.

Rumors of discontent in Anaheim- possibly Perry?
Would The Kings want out of Kopitars contract?

I cannot see it being a younger player as there would be no reason for that team to give up a high draft pick.

Who knows with Pierre, it could be something simple like Dustin Brown, something interesting like Eberle, or maybe somebody right off the charts like Yandle in Florida.

I am sure the next month will be a very interesting time.

Absolutely! People always uses "barley made it" "8th seed" , "didn't have to play anyone" as some kind of reason, without doing their homework. Fact are facts and going up 3-0 in every series isn't a fluke, just like ending up 16-4 isn't.

Sounds like a bigger name than Brown. Perry makes sense especially if they want to keep their D.

I'm thinking Perry, too.

Perry obviously has an NMC, so it would interesting to see if he would waive it to go there.

Saw this on the trade board.

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200/mcguire-pekka-rinne-is-getting-lost-in-his-net-1.767073

13:05 He says Nashville but he meant Vegas. Who is the player?

Perry would be one, another one I've heard rumors is that the SEns want to unload RYan and 5 more years at 7.2M . I'm sure a few GM's have dialed up McPHee.
I think another strong possibility ,given the rumors and comments by the GM is Ovie. And he's the kind of star attraction that Vegas would love.

I initially thought Ovechkin, too. But the caps wouldn't need to add a first in a good draft to dump him.

I don't think the NMC is too much an issue with Perry. If what a few posters are saying is true, then there are clubhouse issues with Perry enough so that he may want to leave.

Will be an interesting summer. That I do know.

The more I think about the Pierre McGuire interview, the more I think it may be someone else.

very big name player
very high cap hit
1st round pick going to vegas so they would take him
make vegas better than people think

I think Pierre let too much info slip. The player has to be on a contender or a team that thinks it's a contender. The team has to have cap issues. He's an older guy not on Pittsburgh or Nashville since those teams are still playing and a deal like this from what I read can only be made once the team's season is over.

Not on AZ or a team with cap space either since it's a cap dump. Not Ovechkin since the team is also giving up a pick and ovechkin would get assets in return.

I thought about it more and Perry is young enough and produces enough to get assets back and not require a 1st to vegas. Brown and Gaborik don't fit the "very big name player" that would make vegas better than people think. They could still go but they don't fit the interview.

While it could still be Perry, I'm now leaning towards Lundqvist. Pierre's comments about goaltending pushed me in this direction. And the Rangers have cap issues and have Raanta for $1 million and need the space to sign Shattenkirk. I think Lundqvist would waive his NMC if he was told he would be the back up to Raanta.
