I would take a chance. He's got skill, does just about everything well, and size and he's only 23. I think his main problem is confidence. He's never played on a winning team or part of a winning organization. Buffalo was a mess when he got there, and life didn't get better when he arrived in Colorado. The Kings, unlike his first 2 NHL gorounds, have developed a winning culture from the top on down. I think for the first time in his career, he'd be a part of something positive, exciting about his future rather than dreading coming to work.
It's hard enough getting used to the pro game in the beat league in the world. a bit harder when you come from Russia But when you're mired in mediocrity , esp for a young player, that kind of atmosphere it can crack your confidence.

You give him a 1 yr show me deal, surround him with real pros, veterans that he can learn from and a positive environment, put faith in him.

CAR trades Eddie Lack, Ryan Murphy and 7th in 2019 to CGY for Keegan Kanzig and 6th in 2019. CAR retains 50 per cent salary on Lack.


Not a fan of Lack, but Canes needed to get rid of a goalie, so that's done.

Kanzig is 22, 6'7 and 250 lbs...farm fodder I guess.

I never saw anything from him while he was with the Kings. Glad he's finding some success, but I just didn't see it here.

Maybe because he never played in LA. Sutter didn't like him and he never got regular shifts and ice time, which he got in Philly and put up timely goals and pts in the top six. was their best forward down the stretch, showed a real knack for finishing. 8 G (7 ES) 12 pts +5 in 23 games. He got what he needed, regular shifts, minutes and finishers. Fair contract , term and $$ .

He was never put into a spot to succeed. He's not a 4th line checker and the way Sutter used him killed any chance of scoring. Hope he does well in Philly.

Boston buys out the last piece of the Seguin deal. They now have nothing to show from that deal, kinda like the Kings have nothing to show from the Simmonds, Schenn, Richards deal.

You'd have to be really obtuse not to see how much the Kings benefited from having Richards.
