I thought it was close enough that either guy could have gotten it. EK had a slow start, Burnsie had a slow finish (relative to each other of course, ahead of the rest of the league). But of course the default state of the league for his entire career has to be EK wins the Norris, so cue the 'robbed again,' "Canadian bias" narrative and get your popcorn.

They still won't let the "Doughty winning" from last season go, even though he had 2 to 1 in 1st place votes..

lol at the end of the show the host tried to give the cup to the players on stage but they all backed away and refused to take it. Guys like Gaudreau, Burns, Anderson, Bergeron, etc.

I saw that too. They were almost backing off the stage. And not a single award for the Cup winners.

In the coming days look for the Florida Panthers to announce Chris Pronger as a high ranking executive with the club.

Okay, with no prior experience other than being one of the dirtiest players ever, destroyer of locker rooms and first class jerk...you get to be a 'high ranking exec"

So he'll be getting 3 paychecks now [ARZ, NHL, FLA]?

I think Vegas did just fine. Not sure what some of you were expecting. They got a couple of big names in MAF and Neal to drive fan interest. And they stockpiled a trove of picks.

They're also not done. They're not keeping 13 NHL ready defensemen. There are more trades to be made, especially around the draft.

They're building an entire franchise from the ground up. And they're doing it the right way. Picking all the Dumbas and Vatanens available would have alienated them around the league, and landed them firmly in the black hole.

Oh the tears on the mainboard are falling...

And the clown who gave a 2nd place vote to Krug, turn in your membership card.

Vegas is trying to be a Stanley Cup contender in 4-5 years, not a 2nd WC contender in year 1.

I like what they did, sure it would have been tempting to take some of those guys, but they will all be UFA eligible before Vegas is able to contend.

It's surprising how few people understand this. Good post.

As a Vegas native, I'm very excited and pleased with today.
