Thing about him is, and I feel bad about this, is that he DOES try out there.
He isn't the type of player who coasts around, plays like he doesn't care, that kind of thing.

He does his absolute best...but unfortunately, his best in the NHL is simply not good enough.
Plenty of guys out there with his size who can do what he does, AND provide value.
Sounds like your describing Tarasenko. Pretty much just showing up for a paycheck.

Random thought but do you think being an nhl player is as fun and amazing of a life as you would think? Getting to fly all over the place with your buddies, staying in the best hotels, probably a lot of good looking women around you if you're single and going out to clubs, making millions of dollars and getting to hang out at some awesome cottage and do what you want during the summer.

I wonder how normal that life becomes when the novelty wears off as it does with everything or if it's as fun as you would think?

ESPN at the CAR/MN game was talking about Nathan Mackinnon's zone entries on the CAR PP, and how they have a choice between him and Aho. This didn't happen once, but multiple times.

Regardless of how much comfort is paid for, road trips are exhausting, mentally and physically. maybe for a couple days you might party but even youngsters run out of energy with games plus whatever. After 5 days or so, you really just want to go home no matter who you are.

I can't comment on Tarasenko, as I don't know if the guy goes around coasting or not...if he does, then that is NOT what I am describing with Girgensons.

If Tarasenko is "just collecting a paycheck", from what I can see, Girgensons is definitely not just doing that.

Zemgus just can't seem provide what an NHL player should be, try as he might.
Big difference.

Yeah, Zemus is still a utility 4th liner, just not a great one. And Tank was just overpayed by Yzerman.

Brandon Hagel has GOT to have tremendous conditioning...even by NHL standards.
That guy is constantly darting the 200 ft length of the ice rink.

Guys think they have room to break away and skate, Hagel catches up to them like an Enzo on a Humvee....
