Avalanche jersey as usual looks horrific. Their logo is disgusting. Looks like a ****ing $10 Chinatown special. In other words, the perfect kit for their atrocious on-ice product.

Black, gray, purple, gold, red on the jersey, and then white and gold on the gloves. I'm absolutely shocked some people like this garbage.

It's not actually purple. The flash distorts it because it's a different type of material. It's thinner, sweat wicking cloth. Photograph the Kings new kit and it should do the same thing. Very noticeable on darker colors.

Such a ******** excuse. Been in the league for 18 years and this allergy only becomes public knowledge when the Blackhawks are in cap hell? Total nonsense.

Hope he gets healthy of course, but this is such a farce from a business standpoint.

Right when his salary drops to a million, this whole thing stinks

Yup, just as his salary drops to a fraction of what it was his suffering from this mysterious illness becomes too much to deal with.

Oh well. The Kings had the Richards thing so I feel like I'm throwing stones in a glass house if I complain about it too much. But at least that wasn't premeditated.

If Richards could still play, we never even know about any minor border thing. If Hossa's salary wasn't going down to $1m, I'm sure they could've figured out a way to deal with his allergic reaction, just like every other year of his career.

Since it was known last year and he played through it when he was making millions, I don't see how they could even come close to justifying LTIR.

It's too bad Hossa's contract is structured the way it is, because the guy can still play.

Interesting timing. The news comes out the night before the expansion draft. NHL will have to investigate. No way other GMs should accept this fortunate timing for Chicago's cap situation.

If it stands, I predict Quick will rip all of his groin muscles playing beach volleyball in a few years.

Let's start with ANA. The belief is VGK will claim Clayton Stoner, pass on Manson/Vatanen and, in return for all that, get Shea Theodore.

The Leafs are pulling the same type of **** with Lupul (sports hernia surgery). Teams will try anything to create some cap space.

There needs to be some sort of rule in the next CBA that prevents shananigans such as this. Same goes with offloading players to other clubs to create relief (eg. Pronger and Datsyuk to Arizona) knowing full and well these guys will never play again.

Wouldn't mind seeing a one time buyout whereby no cap penalty is absorbed. I think that was discussed previous.

Nice summary :yo:

A few of these were mentioned yesterday as well but now we are seeing the full scope of moves that will happen over the next day or so.

I had a feeling Theodore would be Vegas bound as part of them shying away from Manson and Vatanen.

If I am Blake, I would be giving Vegas a ring and asking about Marchessault.

Logjam? In what way? Vegas is the only team that can make deals right now, why are GMs acting surprised? I find it interesting that Vegas is going to take on Clarkson. People said they wouldn't take a dump contract like Brown or Gaborik, at least those guys can still actually play NHL hockey (more or less).

1. He has less term than either of them
2. Maybe the Kings didn't want to give up the 1st round pick and top prospect requirement

There needs to be some sort of rule in the next CBA that prevents shananigans such as this. Same goes with offloading players to other clubs to create relief (eg. Pronger and Datsyuk to Arizona) knowing full and well these guys will never play again.

Absolutley. NHL lets the rules go rubber when it suits them, wrong. Pronger should not have been allowed to work for the NHL Safety office while still under contract with an NHL team. It was very apparent by the medical reports after that injury that he'd never play again.

Plus there are deals for players and three-way trades VGK also involved in. Some revealed tonight. Others tomorrow.

My understanding is that VGK have secured via trades about 10 draft picks spread out over 3 years. So far anyway.

Carey Price said on contract negotiations that he needs to respect the process and maybe he's not going to be signed on July first.

I wonder if his agent's got an offer from an NHL team and the Habs have to change their strategy. I also wonder how much he'll get...

My head is spinning regarding all the rumored Vegas deals.

Wait until the trade freeze expires at 10am tomorrow for all the other clubs, could be a mad rush!

Sure of course. The less term thing though, despite what people think Vegas is not going to be good enough for it to matter before contracts like Brown and Gaborik are irrelevant. Anyway, not that it matters, just interesting that so many said there was no way Vegas would take any garbage and now seemingly they're taking a player that has no chance of ever playing again.

Yeah the Arizona situation is a joke. The whole reason there is a salary floor is to force teams to be somewhat competitive, but sure here's 12.5 million of dead cap... Those trades should not be allowed.

Another club? That would be tampering, no? He's still under contract to Montreal.

Meh, who knows this day and age what happens behind closed doors.
