The idea that the Oilers are actively trying to trade Lucic and his massive contract only 2 years in is hilarious! Maybe Vegas will do it for a bunch of futures and prospects.

That would be brilliant, get the 10th pick to take that deal, could either use that as ammo to upgrade the roster or continue to build for the long-term.

OEL gets 8 years 8+ mil. That’s actually a pretty low cap hit. Obviously Doughty>OEL but hopefully this helps us keep Doughtys contract at or below 11 mil. 10 mil would be awesome but don’t see it happening.

Or underated...he's only played for losing teams his whole career. you put him on a better team and he'd possibly be better

fair price.

But I bet based on that and winning a cup, John Carlson will get more.

When he finally went to the playoffs, he was a no show even though they went to the WCF. 4 points in 16 games, -3. Mediocre in the Olympics as well. Completely overmatched defensively against top competition. He scores lots of regular season points, and that's about it. I can't even count on two hands the number of times he's looked absolutely miserable against us.

Maybe a more scathing criticism than I meant, he's a top-15/20 d-man, but he's basically a rich man's Jake Muzzin when people have him pegged as a top-5, top-10 guy.

And yeah, Carlson's probably headed for 9 million, and someone will regret it immediately unless they have some phenomenal defensive D insulation for him

Elliotte Friedman on NHL Network

Theorized that the contracts the Knights have been giving out are in the 5M range and Karlsson might not be signed ,depending on what he's looking for

Pens and Domi - Rutherford, as he usually does, is looking to make moves to improve. They are very interested in Max Domi. It would be a good fit , he's a good young player who can play both Cente rand wing.

Patches- might be signed in Montreal but feels he'll be traded

Trotz- has teams interested, Isles and Wild potentially among them

Bob Mckenzie on the Caps CAP issues
they have 63.7 M committed to 16 players, with John Carlson, Beagle, Smith-Pelley, Kempny, Tom Wilson and Grubauer needing contracts. Carlson is expected to be in the 8M plus range, so that doesn't leave much room. Contracts that could be removed, Burakovsky (3M) and perhaps buying out Orpik

He also thinks that Matthews and Marner might opt to wait to next summer to ink new deals, as they might benefit by the CAP increase (and whatever % of it their agents deem they merit)

Knights have 48M committed to 17 players and will be shopping.

The 10th isn't on the board for Lucic, the 40th would be.

And I don't see the Knights being interested in a declining slow player. They have plenty of fish in the sea who are better and have better paper that they can reel in.

I wouldn't say he was a no show, I'd say at that time, he was a 20 yr old kid who was going thru his first playoff run. I don't think , during most of his tenure , he's had a lot of structure, stability or the like there. And esp for a defenseman , that's important, tough position to learn. I think he'd have been better off moving to a better team but it could be , given the Yotes played better the 2nd half, and the changes that came and are coming, he sees them as a team on the rise.

Then I doubt anybody bites, the point isn't actually wanting Lucic. Hell, they could buy him out, the point is adding the asset.

If he is overrated, why is $64M+ fair value?

You can be overrated and still be good.

8 is good for a #1 d-man going forward, especially given Carlson will very likely command more.

If he would have been rumored for 9+ I'd say he's overrated AND overpaid.

The 40th is a real sour sweetener for that awful Lucic contract

This story is absolutely insane. If I'm Karlsson, I'd want to get the hell out of that city ASAP.

that's insane. And it would explain the reason Hoffman is on the way out of town for 'reasons not related to his play'. And could be why the team struggled most of the year, that would create fractures. Some of the messages were horrid, esp surrounding the child Karlsson and his wife lost. She has filed a protection order. Hoffman is (of course) denying it and cooperating with officials to get to the bottom of it.
What a soap opera.

Perry and his bad contract on the way out of sunny Anaheim

Frank Seravalli of TSN wrote:
"It is believed the Anaheim Ducks asked former Hart Trophy winner Corey Perry (25) for a list of teams he'd accept a trade to at some point last season. He is due $24 million over the next three years. The Ducks may want to tinker with their core, but Perry's contract won't be easy to move and he holds all the cards."

Yeah, wouldn’t want Hoffman and the drama here. Hard pass on that now.

Seriously, wtf is wrong with people.

You can't hide from something like that, there are ways to identify who you are. If it's true, Hoffman is crazier for not parting ways with her.

And Vegas is/was interested in both Hoffman and Karlsson, guess that changes that...

If this crap with Hoffman's GF are true maybe his trade value will be lowered and LA could steal him. I think he mostly plays the right side which is not a need for LA, but why not. Guy can score and LA needs scorers.

Absolut no on Hoffman.

The wives of several former Sens are saying it is not surprising that Hoffman's gf was named. (Turris and Hammond). That probably means there were private interactions consistent with what the troll was doing to the Karlsson's.

No way do I want Hoffman on the Kings unless it's proven he didn't know AND he breaks up with his gf (if in fact she did it).

It sure sounds like she did it, but even if he knew I'm still good with him. If he breaks up with her great if not I get it. Sometimes crazy chicks are fun. Just cause I with someone doesn't mean I share their beliefs or morals.
